Evita (DVD, 1998, Widescreen Spanish)

I bought it for my daughter (14), because she discovered it for herself this summer. I've been a great fan of Webber's for more than 25 years and I'm very scrupulous about the things I like, but I've found nothing to criticise in this film. It's just great! Wonderful scenery, miraculous actors - even in the less important roles ... and it was partly shot in my home city: Budapest. Madonna was a great surprise for me at that time, she has at least a hundred faces, and Banderas is unbelievably good as Che Guevara.
The only thing I dislike about it that my family is getting mad when hearing it for the 375th times.

Although this movie did not pan out quite as good as the hopes of critics,
it is still a pretty good performance and good for a nights entertainment.
Its easy to see Adolf Hitler s long shadow hanging over this true story about
power and fame. In 1930 s Argentina, small town girl Evita (Madonna) enters
show business, becomes a star and ends up married to President Juan Peron
(Jonathan Pryce). Her position as the nations most beloved woman makes her a
martyr upon her death. The perplexed Che (Antonio Banderas) narrates the story
always looking at Evita as the girl that he loved and adored, but amazed that
she takes the money and power instead of his love. Dancing and music are
truly great in the movie as Evita moves up the Power Steps from a young girl
to the heights of adoration by the Agentinian people.

This movie is a must for any Madonna and Antonio Banderas fan.
The music and singing by both Madonna and Antonio is unbeliveable.
And the acting is second to none.It is full of great actors and
actresses that shine in this musical/drama.This movie is highly recommended.

To me , it was a wonderful historical experience set to music that I absolutely adore. This is why I bought this movie. Madonna is great in her part.

A groundbreaking, mainstream modern opera that works! The songs and Madonna's voice are amazing and compliment an engaging story. I'm sure it would've gotten the same recognition from the Oscars as Moulin Rouge had polarizing Madonna not been it's star.

I saw it only once in the theaters, but I fell in love with it. This has to be on of the best musicals gone movie ever. Madonna and Antonio Banderas are excellent in their performances. Special features are an added fun to an already great movie. Evita is a must have for any REAL DVD movie library.

I have never been a trrue Madonna fan throughout the years. I was very impressed when I saw a couple of her interviews about the movie and making of it. I did purchase the cd when it was available. I purchased this because of the music and story. I have watchyed it with great enjoyment and will again in the future. It is a movie worthy of seeing on occasion and I recommend it to all.

This is the inspiring story of Eva Peron. Her rags to riches story set to music is not only moving but inspiring. Great performances by Madonna and Antonio Banderas.

This is a musical and I mean a musical. From the beginning to the end it is almost entirely in song. Madonna plays the part well and my kids couldn't even tell it was her even though they knew it was. Of course the character Madonna plays looks nothing like her in real life. Juan Perrone looks quite a bit different in real life as well. Taking place in the 1920s through the 1940s they used period vehicles and did a good job on the set. Some of the scenes really felt as if they were filmed in the 1930s. I didn't like the way the DVD menu cycle is set up. This disk has Spanish subtitles capability and it was done fairly well in my opinion.

It is useful to know that they start out in an Argentine theater and they break in to announce that Eva Parrone has died and they for the most part shut Argentina down for the "spiratual leader." Then they go back to the 1920s and explain her life finally ending up where the picture begins.

Despite many attempts to contact the seller all I got was the item was sent, usually takes 3-5 days but allow 2 extra weeks and after about a month and a half i had no choice but to start a claim

This person never answered me or PayPal don’t buy from them they don’t send any thing they take your money and then never respond to you or ship the item I don’t think that they even have the items I think that it is a pictures. There just out to take your money and there over priced I found the same thing at Target for haft the prices they were selling it for.

Wow not only a beautiful musical and story but it adds both Modona (who did an excellant job) but Antonio Banderas who I've come to admire in his various portrayals. another keepsake from Andrew Llyod Webber

I looked everywhere locally to find the Evita dvd but no stores carried it any more. So I decided to try ebay. My dvd arrived in perfect condition a few days after I ordered it online. The prompt delivery and condition of the dvd will encourage me to order from the same Seller again.

Absolutely the best movie you will ever see! I collect movies and have seen a ton of them. This is up there with QUIET MAN with John Wayne, PULP FICTION, and SIN CITY. All innovative, entertaining and totally thought out. What excellent acting and cinematography..4 Stars!!!!

Terrific acting performance by Banderas and Madonna. If you are a fan of musicals (I am) and a fan of the Webber/Rice Evita (I am) this is a treat. Madonna definitely has the range to carry off her musical part, Banderas singing is good, singing by the rest of the cast is ok I would highly recommend this for the music alone. Surprise treat is short musical scene with Gary Brooker from Procol Harum fame. Not a movie for young kids, modest violence and frequent suggestive sexual content and some not too risque language.

i like the movie, and enjoy the music. the style reminds me of Jesus Christ Superstar. The movie came out about 10 years ago, but is still good.

Always enjoyed the movie with Madonna and I decided that I wanted to make this part of my permanent collection. E-bay is a great place to get movies at a great price

Product was exactly what we wanted. There were no scratches on the DVD. I am glad the product was not in Spanish, I was not aware that it was supposed to be.

I love this movie. The music is fun and antonio and madonna are great together. You definitely forget it's madonna and just enjoy her as an actress. Or more as a singer in this role.

Stirring music, who knew Antonio Banderas could sing so well. Dancing and scenery as I have never seen it. So very close to the stage play as to put you on the stage.
Madonna is perfect, and my big surprise was Johnathan Pryce.

Evita is a timeless movie and the quality is exceptional! Thanks a billion! I've only two Madonna movies to complete my collection!!
