While attending a ball at Westminster Castle, Lady Abrielle is hoping her father will receive enough money to bless her with a sizeable dowry, but King Henry denies her stepfather a title and all is lost to her. Her family is in financial ruin and now all the young men will not be approaching her for marriage. Unknown to her, Raven Seabern, who is the emissary to his Scottish king has asked to meet with Abrielle. A mutual attraction develops but she knows it can't go any further. Desmond de Marle, a vile man of wealth,is making advances toward Abrielle but Raven comes to her rescue. Unfortunately, her father feels Desmond is her last hope and so he plans her nuptials knowing she is helping her impoverished family. Her dreams are all about Raven and being his wife. Will he come to rescue her again?
Duty over happiness......most women back then had no choice. The book is filled with deep passion and happily ever afters. A perfect ending to a wonderful author's career.
