I'll make this quick and to the point. Eternal Sonata is one of the best RPG's I have ever played. Graphics and dialogue and 9.8/10. Storyline is 10/10. Gameplay is 9.7/10. Controls are 10/10.

The plot and storyline are geourgous and intense. The dialiuge between characters is at times drawn out but for every scene that is boring, there are 20 that are fantastic. the fighting scences are fun and make the game worth while.

PLAY AND BUY THIS GAME!!!!

A fair jRPG that could have been better.

The game is a JRPG in the truest sense. There's no side quest to speak off, no off-the-beaten-path exploration (apart for some small forks in the road. The game is beautiful but quite banal and frankly corny at times. The battle system does works but it's annoying to see the game making itselfmore difficult during the course of the adventure by using arbitrary means like the Party Level system in which you party gain levels but in fact the levels are more of a hindrance since higher levels makes the game harder and don't reward you for it.

Great game for novices and experts

This game has a great combat system! It extrapolates on the old turn based system and adds an action aspect to it. This system is simple enough for novice or new players to be able to survive or even excel at combat but leaves enough leeway for experts to be able to use strategy and planning to win battles. With each character having unique abilities its possible to adapt to many play styles! Its a great game i highly recommend!

Eternal Sonata review for xBox 360

Prior to buying this game I played it at a friend's. If you haven't played JRPGs in the past, I wouldn't start with this one. It has alot of Japanese influence. If you're really not into the whole JRPG/anime scene and gameplay, you may not like it.

Overall, I think the story is great and it always kept me interested. If you're looking more towards a shooter RPG go with Fallout 3, also a great game.

There are a few minor things that could have been changed/added to make the game better. Overall, for the price, it's a great game with plenty of Japanese/anime influence without "overdoing" it and being too corny. For the price, pick it up and enjoy it for awhile. Cheers!

Its a good simple VERY easy RPG game. The story becomes a drag and i lost interest in it rather quickly and the monsters and bosses are way too easy and no real way to change the difficulty. I had fun with the unique battle system and trying to get the new skills.

Overall way too easy and story was a bit lame honestly but fun battle system at higher levels.

This is a good game. Not great, but good. I'll say its worth the money I spent on ebay but not $60 as in stores. Fun and colorful, not too difficult. It entertained me for a bit.

Eternal Sonata (XBox 360) - Beautiful RPG but SO linear
Review created: 10/07/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I bought Eternal Sonata because it rated high or 'great' as an RPG for the XBox 360. It's a beautiful game and the characters are really charming—or dare I say it—very cute. They're rendered in an anime/manga style that reminds me of the 'Precious Moments' figurines I see in the Hallmark stores (I'll leave it up to you whether that's good or bad). Regardless, I'm really enjoying the gameplay even through it does have a very linear story line. Oh did I mention that it's so easy to get cash in this game when you take pics of monsters and sell them?

Another aspect that I didn't anticipate is it's educational aspect. You learn about Frédéric Chopin's life and the political climate at the time with wonderful pictures of places like Warsaw and Paris. I've never seen a game integrate historic reality with fictional gameplay in that way without getting bored (well, I also LOVE travel, so your take on this part of the game would be subjective too).

As for the downside of this game that I see is the super-long intros as you begin new chapters in the story. I suppose this is a good time for a bathroom break but I do wish they were shorter so I can start playing asap.

Gamespot.com gives the game 8 out of 10, and X-play gives 3 stars out of 5. My rating is somewhere in between: very good gameplay, but can be slow with the long interruptions—rendered or pictorial.

The best-looking RPG I've ever seen, but frustrating...
Review created: 08/18/08

My brothers and I bought a brand-new Xbox 360 just a few weeks ago. I've heard of "Eternal Sonata" long before we bought it, and so, when we did get our Xbox 360, I decided to rent it. The story is very engrossing with ear-pleasing music to match. The majority of the characters are unforgettable. I liked the fact that they respected Frederic Chopin as well as they did, both character-wise and story-wise. It's a pretty RPG to look at - the characters are all rendered in cel shading with eye-pleasing worlds, and the battle system is easy to grasp and becomes challenging as the game progresses. My only annoying points for this game is that most of the levels are linear (they do branch off here and there, but eventually you'll have to backtrack to your original path and continue on that path). Also, there is at least one puzzle that got frustrating (the fact that enemies regenerate when you leave the screen contributed to completing it longer than necessary). I was surprised that I really didn't need a player's guide to play this game - in most RPGs, I had to have a player's guide handy to fully enjoy the game. To me, if I have to play with a player's guide, it turns me off from that game. The linear path that this game follows, though repetitive, makes me enjoy the storyline and graphical rendering more. If you're a casual RPG player, this game's for you.

  Eternal Sonata

I definitely like E.S. Haven't played much of it yet (only 4 hours into the game),though what I have seen so far, it is awesome. One thing that brings it down (not much though) is that it is very linear. NOthing inherently wrong with that. Just with RPG's (normally) one would expect a bit more freedom, oh well. Beyond that, I love it. It's an RPG, it is a Tri Crescendo, Namdai game, and it involves music. Three things I enjoy. So, other than it being linear, I have nothing bad to say about it. Those 3 things mentioned above do more than make up for the one small detail. Highly recommended.

This game is pretty solid. An average Japanse RPG. The graphics and story are really good though but they are a bit preachy at times (you get used to it)

do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes

I really like this game. The battle system can be a little redundant, and it does not show your enemies health. There are some cut scenes they used real 8life photos for that are a little strange. It is great to add some history but the the photos seem out of place. The story line is good and there are lots of lands and different characters to battle with. over all I give this game an 8/10.

First off, I didn't know they made Eternal Sonata faceplates for the Xbox 360. And second, now that I know, I have them, and they are awesome! The colors are beautiful. They aren't dull like some products. These faceplates are bright and colorful. They make my Xbox 360 look very stylish. :)

  Un juego bonito.
Review created: 03/22/09
by:

Eternal Sonata for the Xbox 360
Review created: 01/18/09

I like that in between each chapter there is a cutscene that gives you accurate historical information about Chopin. The format of those cut scenes could stand some work. They look a bit like someone made a powerpoint with static pics of Austria with subtitles overwritten. Not very classy...but it is informative. The game play is pretty good. I like the fact that you have to collect and play score pieces to get everything in the game. It reminds me a bit of Zelda.
