this is one of my favorite millenium isley cd. i can play it over and over. though, the isleys are down to just two, this cd shows that when u are good....u are just good! ronald has never sounded better & ernie can still play the hell out of a guitar. these two coupled with beautiful love songs should be in everyone's cd case. The title track "eternal" is my favorite closely followed by ernie's guitar instrumental. after listening to this cd one finds it amazing that two senior citizens care the best of the best.can i get an "amen" for longevity??

Oh, to review Ronald Isley...is there anyone more cool, more smooth, with a silkier, sexier voice?

There are so many wonderful songs on this record. 'Move Your Body' is funky and upbeat. Listen closely at the beginning. A female voice utters a sensual sentiment that is easy to miss, but once you hear it, it just sets the sultry tone of the entire CD. 'Contagious' is still a great song. R. Kelly is in great dramatic form in this mini soap opera.

'Warm Summer Night' is a remake where the Isleys make the song their own as usual. 'You Deserve Better' and 'Just Like This' are wonderfully smooth, soulful tunes.

The first time I ever heard this CD, I sort of overheard it. Someone was playing it in the workplace. I first heard 'Secret Lover' and I couldn't move. Then I heard 'You're All I Need', a song that showcases Ronald Isley's unique vocal stylings perfectly. Then I heard 'Settle Down' and I was hooked. 'Settle Down' is easily as good as any old school jam you've ever heard only better! 'Eternal' is almost epic - you feel taken away as you listen to it. 'If You Leave Me Now' is another wonderfully executed remake.

Then comes my favorite on the entire record - 'Said Enough'(feat. Jill Scott). It is a great song and quite frankly just a little different from what I'm used to hearing the Isleys sing. But, I love this song. It is pretty and very melodic. Jill Scott is excellent. She and Ronald Isley complement one another very well.

The last three songs aren't quite at the same level of the previous selections but they are impressive nonetheless.

I highly recommend this CD.

For the most part, I HATE this cd!!! It's terrible!!
Review created: 08/03/06

Ron Isley performing as his alter ego "Mr. Biggs" is a unique and legendary concept. Didn't Garth Brooks make that same attempt as "Chris Gaines" several years ago? That CD bombed and so did this CD: "ETERNAL" by the Isley brothers. For the most part, the songs on this cd are weak and SUCK! *please excuse the language!* I'm sorry about this Mr. Biggs, but you could've worked the concept a little bit more and made a better CD. FACT: There's only three good songs on this CD. "Contagious" is my favorite, which features Chante Moore and R. Kelly singing the guest vocals, but this version of this song isn't as good as the radio edit ..... This album version is too lofty and floats about as hard to grasp. The radio version of Contagious swears more during the chorus is darker and more edgy -- that's the way I like it!

I can't remember the other song titles, but "You're all I need" and another song (?) which features Jill Scott singing a duet with Ron Isley ..... those are the other two Jams on this CD. There's one more song that's also gotten radio attention but I can't remember it's name, however it's not all that great in my opinion. All of the other songs in this disc are weak and have FORCED me to decide to sell this cd on ebay. If it weren't for the three good songs on this album which save this CD, I'd entirely consider this cd a TOTAL WASTE of my time. I feel like I've lost valuable minutes of my life listenening to this album. After playing this CD 3 times trying to enjoy it, I want my time back eventhough I know I'll probably never get it back..... Heed my warning ya'll! You'd have to REALLy love the Isley Brothers to truly enjoy this CD!!
