TWISTS AND TURNS
Another great Lemony Snicket book! Just when it looks like the Baudelaires have landed a nice, new home in an enormous posh penthouse, they discover that one of the guardians doesn't care for them at all, and the other--though nice--is afraid of confrontation and entirely apathetic. The Baudelaire orphans seem to be consistently plagued with adults who won't fight for them or believe them when they discover Count Olaf's evil plans.
These books are filled with twists and turns. Some series can be read without reading the previous books, but in this case, it would be beneficial to read "The Austere Academy" prior to "The Ersatz Elevator." There are important characters from the Academy who make an appearance in Elevator. Highly recommended series!
