Erik the Viking (DVD, 2007, Director's Son's Cut)

This is the first time that I've seen Erik the Viking on Region 1 format. This movie first came out in January '89 and more or less flopped at the box office. The redemption for this movie is for the fans of Monty Python. Terry Jones and John Cleese have cameo roles in the film and I believe it was directed by Terry Jones. Its a good movie with characters that are interesting and fun to watch as they interact with others. Watch for the father and son viking "Berserkers", the cloak invisible and Harold the Missionary. Tim Robbins is the token American in the role and our titular hero. This is Tim Robbins I believe,before Susan Sarandon and before his politics skewed his views. I had taped this movie off The Movie Channel back when it aired and I ruined the tape from watching it so much. Check this movie it out...it's worth it especially for any Python fans and anyone looking for light-hearted fare.

seen this movie in the early 90's and loved it. tried to find it on dvd for a long time and just came out this year. Loved the acting and cast funny funny.

Movie from when my kids were growing up It is funny and entertaining and worth watching. would reccomend it to those who like the Monty Python movies.

I loved the original version of Erik the Viking but the sons cut was just that CUT 75 mins left of the original 100 and no new scenes! Left me lacking!

Erik the viking is a great movie, a classic even, that is pretty difficult to find in regular video stores.

Not Monty Python at it's best but pretty darned good. Light hearted humor and lots of laughs minus the foul language that's so prevelant in many other comedy films made today.

everything went smooth as ice. I have no complaint. I got the item in a timely manner. The item cam undamaged and in good shape. The description was accurate.

I bought this movie for my husband's birthday. Both of us are Odinists so naturally we were attracted to the title. The movie had a humor similar to Monty Python or Back Adder that I used to watch on BBC America growing up. If your into that kind of humor this is a cute little movie.

I'm glad this is out on DVD. The original American release on VHS is 25 minutes longer. This "directors son's cut" has been edited nicely and really just helps the jokes and the story move faster.
