Eric Johnson - Live from Austin, Texas (DVD, 2005)

It's hard to find any fault with this dvd if you're a fan of EJ. Simply enjoyable from start to finish. One caution--EJ does not have the most dynamic stage personality, but you don't watch him for that reason. You watch him for his guitarmanship, and he does not disappoint.

Eric Johnson is one of the best examples of Texas Guitar artistry around. He has a style and flow that are all his own. His playing is an amalgamation of Blues Greats like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Buddy Guy as well as Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. He takes these elements and combines it with his talent for piano chord structures and infectious melodies. With Kyle Brock on Bass and Tommy Taylor on drums, this "Austin City Limits" performance captures one of the premier Texas power trios in a riveting performance. Recorded Dec 14, 1988. DVD released by New West Records in 2005.

Excellent concert... it maybe 1988 but it showcases what an unbelievable guitarist Eric is. This guy can play any style with blazing speed, precision and clarity!! A MUST for any guitar junkie!!

Eric Johnson, like DB2,SRV, and Ian moore, is simply one of Texas' most treasured gems to play in the last 20 years. His style is truly unique. I have seen no other guitarist manage to incorporate jazz,rock,blues,pop, and country in the manner in which he delivers. And his lightning fast, techincal speed and skills are just incredible to watch. Vocally...not a SRV or Clapton, but it doesnt seem to matter when you watch this guys' fingers. My favorites, the Jimi covers,right on time. Buy this, it will not disappoint the true guitar aficionado.

If your into Eric, and this style of playing guitar, its GREAT ! Hes an exceptional player , right up there with Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen. Its a good Show.

This DVD is a must for Eric Johnson fans. It's from his early days when his success was beginning on a national level. Lots of great songs from "A Via Musicom" and "Tones". Watching Eric play guitar is like watching a concert pianist.

This was a gift for a big fan of Eric Johnson. They were very pleased to get this cd they could not find it in stores.
