Eragon by teen author Christopher Paolini, the first book in the Inheritance Trilogy, tells an engaging tale of dragons, magic and adventure. The main character of this best selling fantasy book is Eragon, a 15-year-old farm boy in Alagaesia. When hunting in the Spine, a mountain range near his home village Carvahall, Eragon finds a blue stone that happens to be a dragon egg. After the egg hatches, Eragon raises the dragon secretly and names her Saphira. The evil Ra'zac sent by the King Galbatorix kills Eragon's uncle and destroys his home. Accompanied by old storyteller Brom, Eragon and his dragon sets out on a treacherous journey full of twists and turns. Toward the end of the story, Eragon the Dragon Rider, his newly made friend Murtagh, and Saphira arrive at Tronjheim, where the rebel force called the Varden is located. A big battle is fought in which Eragon helps defeat the enemies sent by the king. Likable protagonists and an interesting plot make it an entertaining book for both young adults and adults to read.

Eragon Audio CD bought for a gift

ERAGON is a best selling audio CD, that was offered new and sealed on EBAY at a much lower cost than I could have bought anywhere else on-line or in book stores.

I was excited to bid on the item because I was looking for a gift for my brother (who is VERY difficult to buy for). Because of the price I paid for Eragon, I was able to get my brother 3 other Audio CDs as well. Not only was I delighted in my purchases, my brother was VERY impressed getting all 4 audio CDs.

One thing I try to keep in mind...ALWAYS check Ebay FIRST when you are looking for ANYTHING!

  Fantastic Audiobook

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I had run out of audio books for my commute and swiped Eragon from my 13 year old daughter’s collection. I was shocked to find that I was captivated by the story. The book is marketed toward my daughter’s age group so some of the plot is easily guessed by an adult, but not so much that it is an issue. I was actually looking forward to my 60 minute commute to get on with the story!

The reading is also very good. Although I typically hate when a reader changes his voice, Doyle managed to create an image of each character so that you always knew who was speaking without becoming irritated by the voice changes. I am glad to find that he also reads "Eldest" so I will be sure to listen to that next.

  Love it!!

My son was interested in this story so I bought the book and audio book to read along with. I wasn't sure I would like it but the story is so interesting, my son wants to stop before I do!! We love the characters and the audio book is great. The man that narrates it, does different voices and we especially like Saphira the dragon and Solenbum the cat's voices. Recommend for ages 8 or 9 and up.

This is the first book in a series of three. I can't wait for the final outcome. Each CD/book is beautifully written and scenes are used to make the material come to life. While each CD and book brings to end that segment they continue. The best is that each is a stand alone item and need not be continued. The world of magic, elfs, dragons allows the author to suggest, weave a world only limited by their imagination; furthermore, this author presents the material in such a manner as to suggest this could have been a possible. The lives of the villagers and the leadership are strongly used.

  Great for non-readers!
Review created: 07/03/06

I am an avid reader but my husband is not. Since my son and I enjoyed the Paolini books so much, we wanted him to enjoy the story as well. (Especially with the movie coming out in December.)

So, I bought this unabridged audiobook on CD. It is very long but I think well read and though we are only half way through it, my husband is enjoying it and looking forward to our next long car trip so we can finish it.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who does not have the time or inclination to read "long" books.
