Had The Lord of the Rings and Narnia films never existed, this film would have been a memorable one. Instead it will dwinle into minor cult history with Dungeons and Dragons (the movie) and other films of the genre that didn't quite make the grade.
The major issue is that Eragon will be compared to the Lord of the Rings series and Narnia, which make Eragon a student film in comparison. Though the acting, script and effects are all fantastic, it just doesn't have the maturity that the other film have.
In the end, this is a film to watch on video. I would recommend watching it and you'll enjoy it ... if you don't compare the films (which is really hard to do).
