Eragon (Blu-ray Disc, 2009, Movie Cash)

Great movie story line kept to the book for the important parts. Great Effects. I recomend this movie to any fan of fantasy movies.

I loved the movie. I have watch it over ans over. The graphics were graet and the story line is NOT Lord of the Rings. I have not read the book so I could not say if it follows the book or not. The movie ends with the setup for another movie to follow, but some dunce somewhere has decided not to make a second movie. (Not very smart on his part) If they ever make the second movie I can tell you right now I would have to go to the theater and watch it (I never go to the theater) and would buy it the second it hit DVD/BlueRay. This movie is just a good as Lord of the Rings and better in some areas. The powers to be need to at least make the second movie so it a be closed out properly.

I've read several reviews aganst the movie citing the fact it was written by a teenager. I'm 50 and love this movie. It's a great escape from the realities of life for a fanciful dive into a world where no reports are due, no kids are not screeming and I'm not spending 50 bucks a week on gas, etc. The special effects are stunning and the story line simple and neat--in other words, I don't have to think, I just enjoy the movie. And in blu-ray--WOW. Who care if it's a cross between Lord of the Rings and whatever other movie the critics said. It's fantasy and fun. I totally enjoy this movie!

You either like fantasy movies or you don't, generally speaking. I have a
bit of a thing for dragons, and I like Jeremy Irons, so this movie was
pretty much a no-brainer for me to get. Critics say it's too derivative,
and I agree it does borrow heavily from other fantasy worlds, but is still
enjoyable to me. I just wish this movie was 45-60 minutes longer, as I don't
think that 1:43 is quite enough time to flesh out the characters and their
relationships well enough to really provoke an emotional response from
the viewer.

As for the Blu-Ray, it's well done, but not mind-blowing. This is an
above-average transfer, and easily trumps the DVD version. In particular,
you can see quite a bit more detail on the characters' faces, the dragon,
and the breathtaking aerial shots of the wilderness. I didn't notice any
difference in audio between the DVD and the BD, but that's not really bad
news because the DVD sounded good in 5.1 surround.
