Loging Last printer!!! almost 3 years of use!!!

I bought my R300 on Feb of 2005. The printing quality is exceptional, both in photo paper as on printable CDs and DVDs. My printer stays ON all the time, I plugged it into a wireless print server and I can print from both my desktop and laptop.

I print a lot of pictures, at least 2 per day, and of course, the inks ran out fast, but I purchased a BULK SYSTEM for it, and since then it became the best and cheapper way to print photos.

About 1 year ago, I received a message saying that I needed to take it to repair since its dirty ink tank was full or something... I followed instructions I found on youtube to pull the little tube out of the printer and dispose the dirty ink on an external little bucket, and a combination of keys to RESET the message... that's it...

After that, I continued using my printer regularly and never had a single headache.

I am thinking about to purchase another one and keep it stored until a mechanical problem finally retire my current printer.

I heard that the new EPSON models are not as good as this one... but never tested them yet.

Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer

This is very nice printer. I own 2 of them...both purchased through eBay.
It prints on most any kind of paper with wonderful results.
The photos I have printed are sharp and clear. It also prints documents that are crisp. No smears.
On both printers I have hooked up the continous ink supply system and it is GREAT.
I don't think there is anything I dislike about the unit except maybe being able to print directly on a CD. I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet.
I would recommend this printer to anyone looking for a very nice photo printer that will give professional results at about a 1/3 of the cost.

Not acceptable as it came to me....

When it arrived it did have everything in it she promised. But...as I installed the ink cartridges I noticed there is an internal strip that is disconnected from its proper place and now I have to bring it to a repair shop to get it "fixed" to even see if it prints or not....SOOOOOOOOOO I don't know what to make of this unit yet!

  I've owned this model before

The most appealing feature of the Epson Stylus® Photo R300 InkJet Printer is that it can print directly to printable cd-r/dvd-r media. This is actually the 2nd one I've owned, the first one I bought new at $285 when the model was first released. The first one I owned and used for 5+ years. I guess I printed 1000 or more dvd/cd with it. Great printer.

If direct printing to printable dvd-r/cd-r is what you're looking for look no more.

Proud Epson Owner,
Brian Capps

Epson r300 Injet Printer little known facts and Tricks
Review created: 02/26/09
by:

I wanted to rate this printer as Excellent because it was on of my first true inkjets that printed a phone with the best quality. BUT>>>> I found a trick used by epson that made me downgrade the product. Before I get into it, I want you to know I PURCHASED ANOTHER ONE so It can't be that bad. Here we go, I had a R320 Model, that was susposed to be a new model (This one I just got was a R300 which is a later model), anyway, I had not used the printer for several weeks and thought That may be the problem. (WHAT IT DOES), The printer has a setting that either works on time of number of head cleanings or something. I had one that would not start, with the error that the parts had reach their life cycle and needed to be replaced or taken to a repair shop to be reset. IT is a warning that the INK PADS were (Maybe) full and could cause spills into the printer or on your prints. What it didn't know is I had been working with some REFILL ink cartridges and had tried to clean the BLACK ink, with NO INK in the color cartridges. (at the time I was only using this printer to print black print, I had a Dye sub printer for color. Anyway the printer did not get used that much and had been setting for months with only black (grayscale) shots of the pages online. Maybe 10 pages a week. (THIS WOULD NOT BE ANYWHERE CLOSE THE A YEAR WORTH OF PRINTING) But when the printer stoped, I went to EBAY and found a great deal and bought this one. Then found a utility program that would reset the printer and give no errors. (it's like the reset key for the ink cartridges). The reason I am telling you all this is I did not know and was not told In any writing that the printer would STOP on it's OWN after so long. I also was not told that a program was out that would reset the error. I was told that the cost (from the site), to repair/replace the ink pads would be more than the value of a new printer, (And) even offered a discount on that purchase if I bought one. Now I am told that is on more that just this model r-320 but on the new one i just got the r-300. But with the utility program you can get around that.
Now other than this, this printer is great. First it will allow you to print on inkjet printable cd/dvd's This is a nice option. It has a larger view screen than the r-320 with the ability to be removed if you wish. I has the ability to print to many flash memory cards, and a usb port to connect your camera to, or as I do, connect your usb thumb memory. Many option to print with or without a computer, I use a laptop and design and print away from home, but if you don't have a laptop, you can still print anywhere you can get electric power. BUT ONE THING- IT's A bIG Printer and you will not like to tote it around. But this is a dream on one thing, (I use this) It has a CIS system so I never have to worry about purchase ink from oem's. I installed the ink system and had 1 streak on the first print, second and all after were perfect, only took 1 run to fill the jets with ink. Oh yeah, you have the option of several memory cards but remember only ( 1 ) memory chip can be in the printer at a time. You can also dump files/photos from camera/thumbdrive to desktop/laptop with the printer as the chip reader acts like removable drives (PS you can even use them to transfer files to your device. All in all the option to print on cd's and the Quality of the prints, along with the option to use Bulk ink systems on this printer makes it great, ps you can even edible inks

Epson Stylus Photo R300: Printer Superstar
Review created: 02/03/09
by:

The Epson Stylus Photo R300 is the most versatile photo printer in a reasonable price range that Epson has produced. The ability to use SD cards, usb port to connect directly to a media and/or memory card without using a computer is a plus. Additionally, good quality photographs are produced, making this a gem.

Without a doubt, it is a disappointment that Epson has stopped making this or its "new and improved" counterpart. Fortuneately, e-bay is here!

Epson Stylus® Photo R300 InkJet Printer
Review created: 10/02/08

One of the quietest and fastest inkjet printers I have ever owned. I was lucky to have found one to replace one I had for over 3 years that suddenly died on me.
Due to limited space, other printers with the same faetures were either too noisy or just too big.

  Epson r300 and R320
Review created: 07/10/08

As an event photographer, and the owner of 7 r300-320 printers. I existed on the original Epsons, which I still consider excellent. As time goes by, I would discourage anyone from purchasing used r300's or r320's unless they are refurbished, tested, and guaranteed. I have been the victim of several unscrupulous sellers that are just looking to get some money for their "garbage". Caveat Emptor.

Works fine. No ink just 1 black.
Review created: 02/06/08

I like the printer. But it should have come with some ink in the unit. It was sent with 1 new black cartrage. The otheres were empy. Other wise the unit work fine after I put new ink in the printer. I could have bought a printer for $12 more with all the ink in it.

  Epson Stylus Photo R300 Printer
Review created: 01/07/08

Printer was a scam. The seller just needed some rent money for a month and borrowed $57 from me for a month before finally giving it back to me. The R300 printer is an OK photo printer but the R380 is a newer much better and cheaper printer than the R300. I would recommend the R380 which I got brand new for $80 and the resolution is much better and prints alot faster for the money than the R300.
