Bought this 'supposedly' new - a replacement for one bought by the seller and replaced.

This is one piece of junk !!! After setting up the printer and doing a test print it was evident that the nozzles / jets required cleaning.
I ran the nozzle cleaning programme and still no great prints. Tried to print a copy of a photograph - terrible - another message - clean nozzles. Ran the cleaning cycle again. Next get a message saying Low Ink'
Fair to say that I have cleaned and cleaned but have not had one decent print. The cardtridges ran out after 3 cleaning cycles (they were new and still in a sealed bag when I got it) and are expensive (in my opinion).
Complete waste of money - off to buy a Hp as before !!

I decided to buy this printer because of the direct CD/DVD printing and labeling capability, which I prefer over Lightscribe DVD labeling. I also needed to upgrade my printer to WiFi so that all computers in my household can print to it without having to transfer the documents to a flashdrive.

Pros: High quality printer with professional looking output. Wifi printing capability. Easy setup. Lots of great bundled software included, such as Print CD to make printing on CD's and DVD's very easy. Only printer I have ever used that easily feeds #10 envelopes without jamming. Has a separate tray for photos and for CDs/DVDs so that they print easier and you don't have to change your regular paper from the main tray. Very thoughtful display that tilts upward for easy reading of the display from any position. The Epson printing software has a lot of fine tuning capability which my prior printer did not have.

Cons: Ink is very expensive. You only get about 125 sheets per black cartridge. The ink cartridges are very small and don't hold much ink. The ink cartridges cost the same as other printers despite the fact that you only get about 1/2 the ink and 1/2 the copies. For example, the Brother MFC-210C which I used previously gives 300+ pages per ink cartridge for the same cost per cartridge. Also, this printer requires 5 color cartridges + black, which adds to the cost (other printers only need 4 colors + black). The printer gets paper jams easily if paper is not in pristine condition, more so than my last printer.

I would recommend the printer for light use and for printing occasional photos and CD/DVD's, but if you do a lot of printing, I would choose a different printer. Had I known that the printer only gets 125 pages to a black ink cartidge, I would not have purchased it. If you are looking for a printer with lower ink cost and better value on cost per page printed, then I would choose another printer. If you need a higher end printer that can print to CD/DVD's and is versatile then this is a good choice.

The main reason I was looking for another printer was to be able to enlarge pictures with the same quality as they have in the smaller version. I have an HP 5180 that made everything grainy when I enlarged it. I checked out several printers before I bought this one and it has done exactly what I wanted it for. No matter how large I make my copies now, they are perfect.
I'm very pleased with my Epson Printer. User Friendly too!

  Great Printer

Printer does an exceptional job on glossy photos. Does great on printing directly on DVDs. The larger capacity ink cartridges are only available from Epson and are very expensive - but they do a great job. Cartridges are very easy to install, simply lift up the flat top and the cartridges are right there. The on screen menu keeps you informed on the ink levels.

The best photos I have ever printed!!!
Review created: 09/08/09

The main thing I use a printer for photos and these are the best. I have had 3 H.P printers, the last was a C6180 photo printer that took all the different ink color cartridges, the pictures were not even close to as sharp and colorful as these, also they came out wet and stuck together sometimes. The Epson Artisan 700 photos are very sharp, bright and not so tackey feeling as other printers I have used.I have not used it much so I have not found anything wrong with it yet and I hope it stays that way.I do wish it had a fax.

  Quality photo's
Review created: 09/07/09

After a long research on photo printers , this Epsom Artisan 700 was a very good choice , Once i got done setting up the wireless , the rest was easy ,
It comes with a good software suite bundled ,
first photo i printed out was very very WRONG ,
ok so i loaded the paper in with glossy side down , lol
First print was a little blotched , but with that being the first ink threw it , i ran it threw again and the 2ND print came out perfect , and have been ever since ,

INK Usage ;; i have run 12-15 8 1/2 x 11 and the ink levels haven't changed much i think I'm still at 98% , so i think it is very good ,,

PRO's - easy set up ,, good ink usage , fantastic print quality .

no need to send photo's in for printing if you have this printer ,

Con's ;;; I didn't buy this earlier

Must use Epson paper to get beautiful results
Review created: 09/06/09

I really loved the price of this printer for the quality and features it promised. When received I loaded high quality Kodak photo paper and got prints with lines and was very upset with the quality. Epson support said to use Epson paper and I thought they just wanted to sell their paper BUT I tried the Epson photo paper and the prints were beautiful. I think the ink usuage is high but it takes a lot with the first inks to prime the system. So I'll have to wait for the second batch to go before I can really tell about that. The controls for the 800 model are easier but you pay almost twice as much for that model. This is a far greater price performer.

  Great all in one printer
Review created: 08/23/09

I use the printer to print on DVD Disc for people. I copy VHS (Home videos) to DVD and print a label on the disc. Also I print my photos and work documents with this printer. I have to say the quality of every picture and every disc I print on is perfect I would recommand this printer to anyone needing a good all in one printer.

Great for printing CDs and DVDs
Review created: 07/03/09

This unit does an incredible job at printing DVDs and CDs, but it does go through ink like there is no tomorrow! Also, the paper tray is extremely flimsy and awkward. When dealing with paper, it tends to jam a lot.

So if you need a good printer for your disc media -- go for it! But if it is just for paper -- look elsewhere.
