The best Westlake, or mystery novel for that matter...

I've been a big fan of Donald E. Westlake for years. The passion started with "Dancing Aztecs", and grew with "Money For Nothing", "Bank Shot", "The Hot Rock", "Jimmy The Kid", and the list goes on and on, with favorites often being Dortmunder novels, but not exclusively, since "The Ax", "God Save The Mark", "Two Much" are among the top faves. Which brings us to what I consider his best work yet: "Enough!".
I won't write a complete review because I believe it would ruin the prospective reader's pleasure. I'll just say the story begins when a film reviewer accidentally kills his mistress. Fearing complications if he reports the death, he flees her apartment. The whole story then revolves around his relationship with a detective investigating the crime, and his wife. Add a blackmailing witness, and you've got Westlake's genius at work in his best suspense novel. Pick the book up, and never put it back down until the End: that's how captivating this book is. Given how diverse and incredibly interesting, and well constructed the plots are throughout his bibliography, you'll hopefully understand with this statement that this novel shouldn't be overlooked. You can thank me later.
