Enjoying Roses by Ortho Editors (1992)
Lots of pictures and useful information. Map of numbered climate zones, descriptions of varieties of roses, each particular named rose has a page citing best zones, soil type, fragrance, shape, color and foliage descriptions, etc. Interesting chapter on evolution and history of cultivation. Great lists of roses noted for fragrance, hardiness, colors, types ( i.e. antique bourbon, tea, florabunda).
This book was intended to help a novice plan a garden. Of course, there is a big chapter on how Ortho products help maintain a garden. There is a rogues gallery of pests and how to handle them. Another chapter on fertilizing.
