The English Patient (DVD, 2004, Collector's Edition)

I thought, through the years, that I would see The English Patient on Turner Classic Movies - or some such channel. No Luck! How delighted I was to find this excellent movie on eBay. I remember how enthralled I had been at the glorious photography throughout the movie, and the complex story line had kept me captive until the very end.

Excellent movie and I'm so happy to have it at my fingertips, thanks to eBay and the seller who had this collector's edition.

I bought this movie because I liked the reviews that I watched on it. This is a breathtaking, romantic love story. It is set during the World War time. The cinematography is pretty incrediable. I like movies that let me escape into them. This one does just that. Buy it, rent it & enjoy. For the true romantic at heart.

So, it won 9 Academy Awards. Granted, the directing, locations, special effects, cinematography, etc., & acting, were all far above average.
However, the carnal, 100% lust-based affair left me angry, more so at Katherine, but then again, it takes two to tango.

What these two people did to Geoffrey was unforgiveable, & I failed to celebrate their adulterous affair. I refuse to call it a "romance," & I despise movies that glorify adultery, as some sort of "happily ever after" right-of- passage, for any two people, who are so incapable of fidelity. Absolutely NOTHING justifies it. A married person shouldn't be "fair game," for those who can't keep their pants/panties on.

The ONE "romance," in the film, involved the nurse, & the demolitions expert, but it was overshadowed, by the in-your-face adulterous affair of the two main players.

Did the ultimate fate, of these two "romanticized" characters bring a tear to my eye? Certainly not.

I only bought this film because Colin Firth is in it. I only wish that I could re-write the story, for (his character) Geoffrey's sake. But...! Not all of his movies end on a happy note, for the characters he has portrayed, over-the-years.

Not a family film. Not a film for anyone who has a spouse with a wandering eye, or one who is vulnerable to thinly-veiled sweet talk by a wolf.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The story is wonderful. It's different from the book but equally as good. The movie was shot mostly on a location much like the book's setting, and the cinematography is beyond description. I never knew a desert could be as beautiful or as varied as North Africa is. Since it was shot in the mid-90's, the attitude toward Muslims was much more positive than it is now...and it gives us all something to think about. Most Muslims are a peace-loving, gentle people and the movie reflects that reality.

A very well done movie. One of the best romantic movies I've watched.
I watch it over and over I enjoy it every single time.
However, prepar the tissues because if you are sensitive it will make you cry at the end.

I have been looking for this movie for quite sometime and never found it in stores or Columbia House and I decided to try E-bay and immediately it was there. To me very exciting!!!!
