This is a great war movie, Jude Law gives a great performance. This is, if you like war movies, almost an instant classic kind that you'll want to watch more than once.

  Very pleased

DVD was shrink wrapped in plastic and the shipping was very fast. Nowadays you don't know if you're getting a counterfeit item or the real McCoy. With this seller I got the real deal and was very grateful.

  Great Film!!
Review created: 09/16/08

This is one of my favorite movies. The true story, set against the background of the battle for Stalingrad, is about a shepherd boy who becomes a marksman, and thus THE sniper who shoots high-rinking German officers and motivates/ups the morale of the Russian army. Though a bit gory in places, it's not gratuitous. It's an intelligent film, intriging, clever and nail-biting in some scenes. It's very well acted by Jude Law, Joseph Finnes and Rachel Weitzs. I highly recommend it.

  Heroes wear Red
Review created: 05/31/08(updated 05/31/08)

This is a story for mature audience only. It parallels in some way the 300 and the stand at Thermopolis Pass, except the Battle for Stalingrad is not fought with SGI special effects, but with convincing realities. As in the 300, the mythology comes from actual events and people.

Jude Law is the boy-become-hero and the supporting cast is phenomenal. While the Russians were hopeless out-numbered by the Nazi guns, tanks, and bomber planes, they held thier own in the propaganda war, printing newspapers to offset the terrifying and relentless Nazi loudspeaker announcements. The snipers kept the Nazi war machine at bay between counter attacks of the Red Army, whose soldiers often had to charge without a weapon in hand. In desperation, the Nazi try to counter sniper warfare, to kill the heroes that sustained the Russian hope. Intense dramatic encounters where hunter becomes prey are the main feature of the story. There is a love interest but hard to understand considering all the blood and gore. Perhaps it is a paeon to the American audience that might not understand why woman are soldiers.

I needed a brand new copy of the DVD Enemy at the Gates, I found one still factory sealed and ended up paying a little over 7 dollars for it. I paid more to ship it priority than I paid for the DVD, which was something I expected. I think I actually paid around 2 dollars for the DVD. I got the DVD in about two days all for around 7 dollars, I was happy!
