Album Notes Personnel includes: Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand (vocals); Nick Moroch (guitar); Lil Louis (programming). Producers include: Donna Summer, Pete Bellotte, Giorgio Moroder, Gary Klein, Quincy Jones. Compilation producer: Bas Hartong. Coming only a year after the more in-depth Mercury collection THE DONNA SUMMER ANTHOLOGY, the single-disc ENDLESS SUMMER might seem redundant, but the latter set smartly focuses almost exclusively on Summer's classic disco era and her later dance anthems. The song selection is unbeatable--nobody recorded more disco classics than Summer--and the production, largely by the team of Giorgio Moroder and Pete Belotte, defines the Eurodisco aesthetic, all ticking krautrock-inspired synths and swooping strings. Even the later, less unique tracks like the Quincy Jones-produced "Love Is in Control (Finger on the Trigger)" sound terrific. If you're looking for a one-disc Summer anthology, ON THE RADIO might delve slightly deeper, but ENDLESS SUMMER is arguably more powerful.
Editorial Reviews 3 Stars - Good - ...most of the disco greats are here...being the artist (and possessed of genuine lung-power) she felt compelled to move on, with varying results. Q (12/01/1994)
