This Book is absolutely amazing on SO many levels. It is the first novel I will give my children when they are old enough. That's how strongly i feel about it. I am NOT a fantasy geek or Sci-Fi person. I'm an Artist and Photographer, just a regular joe, that reads before bed because it helps me sleep. This book absolutely WILL change your life, and the way that you view the world. It is a very simple book, easy to read (all of Orson's books are). It hooks you to where you won't want to put the book down until it's done. It brings you into this whole new world, that is so close to our own, and opens your eyes to what very well could be in our own future.

This book will force you to search your inner self, analyze your own life, and will make you a better person for it, and the great thing is that you have no idea that the book is even doing that to you. I guarantee you will love it, and will be out buying the next book the same day that you finish this one. I would suggest the entire Ender Series, as well as the Shadow Series, you don't have to like Sci-Fi to like these books. I have read almost every single OSC book and loved every one of them. They have changed my life, and who I am.

I have read thousands of books over the years, but none as engageing, or plesaing to the mental palate. After reading this, i instantly went and purchaced the entire set. I have to say i quite enjoyed his other books as well, and was plesently surprised at the staggering number os eras this man is able to write in. I do beleive Card is a master of all fiction, weaving his masterful web of worlds spanning quite literally millions of years and countless locals and cultures.

  The Quintessential SciFi Novel
Review created: 01/26/06

One of the best books I have ever read. One of the book's strongest points is it's non SciFi centric storyline. Yes, the story takes place in the future, but the book is much more about its characters and humanity in general than gadgets and gizmos. Soon to be a major motion picture.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Review created: 07/17/08

As popular with the soldier as is with the Nintendo fanboy, "Ender's Game" is THE Sci Fi novel of the 1980's generation. Orson Scott Card gives us a character to whom we all can relate, and who we all wish we were. There are so many facets of this novel that I could touch on. I believe the most notable to be the portrayal of internet medias used by Ender's brother and sister to take over the world. Could this be how it is done in our reality? Internet 2? Get busy reading this so you can move on to the other Ender series novels of Mr. Card's!

  Ender's Game
Review created: 07/09/08
by:

I bought this book because I heard that it was similar to Harry Potter. A young boy going to a special school for his unique talents. Well, the similarity ends there. Ender's Game is an adult book. The writing was elegant and highly intelligent. The theme is science fiction and therefore "possible" in a future time. There is no "magic" or mythical creatures. I really enjoyed it. It is a departure from the fantasy I regularly read but now a part of my permanent library.

  An excellent Read
Review created: 04/06/08

Interesting, thought provoking, and exhilarating, accurately describe what this wonderful book has to offer. A mix of history and the future collide as Orson Scott Card tells the tale of Ender Wiggen and his rhomp through battle school, his dominance of relationship and the distruction of the enemy invaders, the "buggers". The clear yet complex view Scott provides into the life of these children makes an interesting book that doesn't seem to stay closed once opened.

I ordered the book and got a message from ebay saying that the seller is a fraud and that I should ask paypal for my money back. Still never got it back. I've read the book and it is very inspirational and is full of military strategies and life lessons on handling obstacles and getting past whatever comes at you and never giving up. It's an awesome book!!!

  Ender's Game
Review created: 12/24/07

Ender's Game demonstrates Card's enormous talent in writing. The style of writing is not complicated, mostly succinct in approach and very quick to read. The book itself is a bit strange to explain. Card seems to tap into the military mind and militaristic system and exploits an interest in it, also the fundamental nature of human beings. [SPOILER]: However, near the end of the book, both of these things start to turn incredibly unrealistic and almost completely nonsensical. "Peter" somehow becomes a benevolent ruler after a childhood of murdering smaller things and torturing siblings. The alien race somehow did not figure out a way to communicate with humans withing a span of eighty years. These things, among others, make the quick and strangely bleeding heart ending a bit confusing. The only thing you can really draw from the ending is that some of the characters dont like to kill and militarism is bad. Not much else to it. All in all though despite the strange ending the book was quite good and very difficult to put down.

  Purchase Review: Ender's Game
Review created: 06/03/07
by:

The reason I bought the book was because our Honors English class was assigned to write a book review. This one in particular happened to be on the list, and so I read it and wrote the review. However, I liked the book so much, and was very confident that several of my siblings would as well, that I bought it. Naturally, I would not have bought the book if it was not at a reasonable price, but the seller offered a very good price, and it seemed to make a fair deal of sense.

Good book for teen through adult
Review created: 02/26/07

I have read this book two times and enjoy it every time. I first read this book when I was 12 and again when I was 24 after Reading Enders Shadow a parallel book. I would suggest this for teens and above due to some political and violence. Overall good book.

A Great Book for Young and Old
Review created: 09/02/06
by:
krymn ( 4 )

One of my favorite books as a child, I have "lost" many copies to friends who I have loaned this book to. It is about a young boy genius (Ender) taken by the military fleet to be trained into a brilliant general who will be commanding soldiers against an alien invasion. Though the book is a sci-fi novel, it's definitely relatable for both children, adults and those who are not sci-fi fans because the story focuses more on Ender as he grows up as a child soldier and the moral dilemmas that not only he faces, but the teachers and the faculty that groom children to become commanders of armies, than the whole outer space/alien aspect of the story. Orson Scott Card is a great story teller and he really knows how to build characters and form relationships between them that make them feel real, like you'd like to be friends with them. Get this book, share it with your friends, you'll never look at sci-fi the same again.

I bought this after reading my father-in-laws copy. it was so good I wanted to read it again and share it with friends.

it is a very full book as many of Orson Scott Card's books are, giving you alot to think on and about.

I have read the whole Ender's set now and though they are all good this one is the besT.

I PLAN TO READ ALL THE "ORSON SCOTT CARD" BOOKS I CAN.
