Thousands of buyers of SEGA/CA's new release Empire: Total War are discovering that they are unable to make the game run on their computers, although SEGA acknowledges that their computers meet the system requirements published for their game. http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com
Almost a month after the release of the game, SEGA is sending the following message to purchasers of the game who are unable to make it run:
(paraphrase)
"Yes, your computer meets the system requirements. Glad that you bought it. Unfortunately, the system requirements for BUYING the game are less stringent than the requirements for PLAYING the game. Oh, you wanted to play it? Listen you need to watch that kind of unhelpful flaming rant behavior. But thanks for giving us your money. No, our misrepresentation doesn't commit us to refunding your money. We here at SEGA hope that you enjoy you're new $50 desktop icon, and we're all sure that you'll be there, cash in hand the next time we figure out a way to clip you. Love and Kisses, SEGA customer support."
SEGA also acknowledges that they cannot say with certainty that any system will run the game. They also refuse to provide refunds to purchasers who are unable to run the game on systems that clearly meet the system requirements.

The game is execellent, except for one major problem... The save files will corrupt at an unexpected time during the campaign. I read on the forums where people went into their 150th turn before experiencing problems. The issue started for me around my 66th turn. Hopefully, a patch is being worked on, but more than likely, it will not fix the save games already corrupted.

Bought by one of my children and they love it...quite a hardware hog, but if you've got the processing power, they sure seem to love these Total War games...not ovverly graphic but lots of strategy.

This RTS does everything right. It's got the detailed strategy, deep management, exhilarating tactical battles, even naval combat. The water effects are great, the sound is some of the best I've ever heard, and it's countless hours of fun. Even non-RTS players should give this one a go. It's just that great.

I watched the trailer and other movies and it looked awesome. I got and i didn't work. Still can't figure out why. I paid 50 good dollars for it and it doesn't work. I'm really angry. if you wan to get this game get a new fast computer. It looked good, but you have to read the fine print.

The best strategy game.Excellent battle system,perfect graphic,pretty good optimized.Beware!!It can eat your brain!! My pc: quad6600 geforce880 2 gb ram(runs very good like everything on high.Just little lags when full armies and hard laggs when lots of ships).

I bought this because the seller was cheaper then the stores.
I like the concept of massive strategy required. The graphics are stunning, and the detail is amazing even when fully zoomed in. I do not dislike anything about it, but have heard load times are a while, and some bugs here and there.
Never tried this series, but some amazing games in the total war series. You should like them all. Wish they had more emphasis on melee troups rather then all gunners.
Buy it, if you like strategy games.

This game is a fantastic contiuation of a great series. The new battle scenerios, graphics, and the new game setup are phenominal. If you've played any of the Total War games than you'll love this one. The only draw back is having to install and play the game through steam!

The game is excellent graphics are great , at times to great best if you have a quad processor mainly and intel i7 quad chip. But besides that I love the game decided I would go head and buy a gaming desktop, I bought the game because I have played the rome version and enjoyed it and decided that I would try the new one. But all and all this is a great game graphics are perfect gameplay is forever and a game you could never get tired of......Hope you enjoy.

I payed on 3/25 (Weds) via paypal. Didn't receive a response that it was shipped so i inquired on 3/30 (Mon). Seller said that they had a funeral and would send it by 4/3 (Fri). On 4/7 (Tues), I sent another ebay message asking if they had sent it out because i have not received it. Today 4/10 (Fri) i sign onto ebay to send another message to find the seller is no longer registered. I plan on going onto PayPal today and filing a non-receipt dispute. I also sent a message to ebay. I think the funeral was hooey and this person is a jackass.

The campaign isn't hard or challenging enough but gives the new player a good starting point.
The multiplayer is generally good.

Overall I really like this computer game.
Graphics are great, strategy is great, action is excellent.
I use a computer that doesn't have the correct speed for the game, but the game still seems to run fine. I love the addition of the naval battles as it adds a new demention to the game.
Overall I would recomend it to anyone, whether you are a first time user, or if you have used games like Civilization or the Rome game this same company makes.

This game is very fun! It requires alot of strategy and thinking. You can control several and I mean several empires, research different technologies, and even cause a revolution within your own empire. If you like RTS games, this is a must-buy.

I thought it would be alot like Medieval total war 2. But it wasn't at all... Its way too glitchy and has alot of really useless spots and changes that further make the game any fun... I am glad to have gotten it at a cheap price though!
