Elvis Sings Flaming Star by Elvis Presley (CD, May-2006, Sony Music Special Products)

This is a very nice collection of Elvis songs. I just love Flaming Star, it makes me feel good.
There are also some of his lesser known songs on this CD. Great songs like Night Life, Tiger Man and All I Needed Was The Rain are forgotten songs that really shows Elvis' different styles. One thing keeps this CD from getting 5 stars, it's way too short. Only 9 tracks is way too little. Yes, it's a rerelease from the original LP, but the LP was also too short.

This was the first record I ever got, almost 40 years ago now. After not hearing it for nearly 30 years, I was amazed that i remembered all the lyrics. What a gifted man he was. What is usually written off as a lesser recording is lifted above mediocrity by THAT voice! The songs are different: country and western (Flaming Star), Cabaret (Night Life, Wonderful world)a Chuck Berry rocker (Too Much Monkey Business), and a live in-promptu performance that Elvis literally growls (Tiger man). none of these songs are remembered as classics, except by that young boy who remembers hearing them 40 years ago and now can't get the line "Take a chance and do the Vega" out of his head!

I recieved the cd a few weeks ago, I realy like this cd. It has excellent sound.I decided to buy this cd because I have the LP but can't hear it as my sterio is broken.But now I can. thank you.

This not one of Elvis' best albums it was originally released as a budget album on Camden. It is essential for some of his songs unless you want those songs on compliation releases, which I don't. However, the artwork is first rate and has a great shot of Elvis on the cover. I decided to buy the CD because it's at a fair price and enables me to mirror my LP collection on CD by having as many original releases as possible.
