The 1980 boxed set "Elvis Aron Presley", was released by RCA to recognize the 25th anniversary of Elvis signing with the record label. Originally issued as an 8-LP record set, this collection perfectly spans his entire career, from 1956 to 1977. The material included features an early live performance from 1956 when Elvis played in Las Vegas for the first time (this recording has been reissued twice since); a unique monologue recorded on a United Artists film set in 1962; the 1961 benefit performance in Hawaii; movie soundtrack outtakes; performances from Las Vegas in 1969 and 1970; highlights from all 3 of his television specials; a selection of singles that were originally never released on albums; Elvis at the piano; and concert highlights from the spring of 1975. Altogether, this set has everything that the Elvis fan could want. This was perhaps the first Elvis album release since his death in August 1977 that took a serious, detailed look at the man, legend and phenomenon. The set would later be Grammy-nominated for its remarkable liner notes. In 1998, this complete set was reissued, this time making its official CD debut. The CD version contains the entire contents of the original collection, presenting every track in the same running order. And, the sound quality is superb; even the 1961 Hawaii benefit performance sounds better this time around. This collection was the first in a long line of Elvis box set reissues, that focused on many different aspects of his career. It remains one of the very best of its kind, and is especially noteworthy for "Elvis At The Piano".
