Ella Enchanted (DVD, 2004)

Anne Hathaway has an amazing voice and the story is simple, silly, and a lot of fun! A perfect fairy tail for girls of all ages! This is not a movie to expect a lot from, just sit back and smile.

I saw this movie when it first came out on video. Though its an adaptation of my favorite book by the same name, it doesnt even come close to the storyline of the novel. However, I really like its originality and the way that the fantasy of Ella's world really takes you over. Modern day jokes are woven into the Mideval world, so both younger kids and adults can appreciate it!

My 5-year-old daughter loves it.. Watches it over and over. My wife likes it too and has asked me many times to watch it.

Love this film! So entertaining. Not just for me, but also for my 4 & 6 year olds. Even my husband was entertained, which is saying alot.

I have watched this new version of Cinder.."Ella" with my two greatgranddaughters and discovered that we all enjoyed it, equally. They are eight, twelve and I am...older. LOL It's more modern than the story I watched as a child, however, the message is the same, and I believe, a very beneficial lesson for all to learn.

I bought Ella Enchanted for my 3 & 9 year old daughters. They love this fun, musical comedy of this delightful movie. I am extremely glad I bought this DVD and my 3 yr old loves to sing to the songs and rehearses them daily with her Daddy. I recommend this movie to other little princesses and queens. A+++++

I bought this for my girls, twins age six, and my youngest daughter age 3. I love the movie because it's a good wholesome movie for young girls and can also be a fun family movie. There is no profanity, or nudity and it's a fun twist on the classic fairytale of Cinderella. It shows young girls that they can beat the odds no matter what their obstacles. Empowering the female is one of the themes of the movie.

This is a great alternative to animated movies as well! Bring on the popcorn!

great price, fabulous movie!! The offer of having it shipped so quicly made it a great deal. I was happy to have it following our state testing so that my students could watch it after reading the novel in class. The characters really matched nicely to the ones in the novel.

Me and my family love this movie and the price was just right. It came fast thru the mail and we can look at it over and over again. I They did a very good job.

I like it because it is Funny,Clean and nice love story. Good sense of humour lots of laughs. It's a great Girly movie and I have watched it bunches of times. Anne Hathaway is Great in it and a GOOD singer yes there is also singing and dancing Giants and little people fun fantasy movie. If you like Shrek and Princess Diaries then you will like Ella Enchanted. I think any teenage Girl would like and enjoy this Movie

I love this movie. It is a funny,yet romantic movie, very enjoyable.My 6 year old grandson loves to watch it.I like to watch movies that Anne Hathaway plays in because she is a very good actress.

My thought upon picking up the "Ella Enchanted" book was, "Oh, well I suppose this might be good."... I read that book in ONE day! I utterly enjoyed the story line, characters, development, and subtle references to the original tale.

Despite all that, I was sorely disappointed with this film.

I truly pity anyone who believes that this atrocious interpretation of Ms. Levine's extraordinary rendering of the classic Cinderella story is the real thing.

My points of dislike:

1. Ella was quite young throughout the majority of the book, and yet in the movie she was grown up within a few minutes.

2. THERE WAS NO "EVIL UNCLE", Char's parents were alive and very kind, loving, and supportive.

3. The Step-Sisters and Char were also young for the main part of the book.

4. Hattie mostly and Olive completely were utter imbeciles , they were never smart enough to tell Ella to steal something.

5. No one wanted Ella to kill Char, in fact the whole controversy at the end was because Dame Olga and Hattie were trying to force Ella to marry Char so that they could tell her to give them all his riches.

6. Char and Ella's relationship was much sweeter in the book than in the movie.


I would never recommend anyone buy this DVD, instead take some quality time with your kids and read the book!

Its good clean family entertainment. Any age would enjoy the story and of course there is a moral to learn.
Anne Hathaway is adorable as Ella and the "Somebody to Love" Sceen is the best.

I love it. I bought it for my granddaughter. It's a fairy tale with Ella as the main character. She is beautiful, smart and very good. After having a curse put on her at birth, she must be obedient and obey anything asked of her. How she finally manages to break the spell and, of course, marry the prince, is told in a funny and different way. It has great musical numbers with lots of dancing and singing. She cannot sing or dance, but when ordered to, she can. The same with fighting so she found out she was capable of doing almost anything. She is a very good example of how a girl can be feminine and stall take care of herself. The quality was as good as new and my granddaughter loved it.

A little bit diffrent story than the usual fairy tale storys. With jokes and antics the kids find funny, mixed in with adult humor for us to enjoy. Not to much singing ( more Grease like then HSM ) but just enough for you and the kids to enjoy some classic songs. From my two year old to my twelve year old and those in between a movie they all enjoyed.

one is given the impression that this a children's movie. it's not. i followed the story line but had it not had a prince and princess in it it would have been a waste for my daughter

My daughter and I just love this movie. Great fairytale with a new twist. Lots of action too. Very funny also. Anne Hathaway is a great actress.

I bought this movie for my daughters for Christmas. They have both watched it before and they love it! Anne Hathaway is a wonderful actress and a good role model. The plot is great; there's a little bit of everything: laughter, romance, intensity, etc.. This is a great movie!
