Elf (VHS, 2004)

'Elf' starring Will Ferrell. Will was an orphan child who stowed away on Santa's sleigh as a child and was adopted by one of Santa's elves. After years of not fitting in with the other elfs, Papa Elf (Bob Newhart) tells Will the truth: he's not an elf but a human. Will sets out on a journey to New York City to find his father, who is a grumpy executive at a publishing company (James Caan). Will Ferrell is terrific as the silly elf, and this movie is chock full of big laughs And the humor isn't foul like that found in something like "Scary Movie III", this is more like "School of Rock". 'Elf' is a great movie for the whole family, yet not aimed directly at children. For the last 15 minutes of the film, the laughs abruptly disappear and are replaced by a strangely moving dose of Christmas spirit. The ending feels like an entirely different movie. But no matter, for good comedies that don't rely on potty humor are few and far between these days. Will Ferrell has succeeded in his first major starring role, and I hope that there are more good projects for him in the future.

An enjoyable holiday movie for the whole family. My 16 yr old enjoys it as much as her parents.
The seller was first class; the VHS was first class; the shipping
time perfect.
Will Ferrell movies have diminshed in quality since 2004. This may be
truly the last family film he makes for awhile. The racing film was funny at
times, yet the same sex kissing scene at the end is not worth watching if your
hetero. This mindless ending ruined the the film for me, I don't want to watch
that garbage. Yet there exists a lot of hetero garbage being made in Hollywood
as well.

I had seen this on television and knew that my grandsons would love it. I didn't have any luck finding it, (most likely because it was out of season) until I thought of ebay. I found it there, got it in record time at a great price. "Elf" is a great movie for all ages.

I purchased this for myself and my family to enjoy. I have seen it before and wanted a copy for myself. It is a very funny movie and Will Farrell is a hoot.
