Album Notes Includes liner notes by Ken Barnes. This is one of five CDs released in 1995 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Turtles' first hit single, a delightful, Beau Brummels-like version of Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe." ELENORE is an interesting, albeit brief, compilation spanning the group's 1965-69 career. The wonderfully sardonic title track, a bitter pop joke lost on the masses who bought it, and the more straightforward Spector cover "You Baby" are the only hits here. However, the 12 tracks also include such gems as Warren Zevon's lovely "Like the Seasons," written when he was half of the acoustic folkie duo Lyme And Cybelle, and "Earth Anthem," the tongue-in-cheek finale to the band's brilliant concept album THE TURTLES PRESENT THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS, wherein they impersonate a different fictional band on each track. Sadly, the immortal "I'm Chief Kamanawanalea (We're the Royal Macadamia Nuts)" is conspicuously absent.
