Very well written with engaging characters

I really enjoyed Wendy Wasserstein's Elements of Style. I wasn't aware that she had died last year and was hoping to read more by her.
The novel centers around some rich folks of New York City immediately post-9/11. There is a jealous ladder-climber, the object of her jealousy--a beautiful socialite who comes from old money, her dermatologist husband, a crass movie producer and his docile wife, and a pediatrician. The latter is with whom I felt most connected.
The chapters are sorted by a different person, third person. As absurd as some of the characters are, I think that you do feel a bond with each and every one of them.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The writing flows and at times, it is laugh-out-loud funny. Towards the end, the mood is sad, and it really touched me. I would recommend it.
