The book is a good resource for pre-service teachers. It includes the NCTM Standards. It has extremely well laid out lesson plan information and includes information on how to teach specific concepts clearly.

I had been teaching math the old fashioned, teacher-centered way for years, then as the State Math standards changed, I began to see that "do as I do" did not work the way it was supposed to. the students did it, but did they really understand it? This book was recommended during a summer inservice presentation by a University Math Methods professor, and I looked through her copy before I bought this one. I still have my university math methods text, but it pales in comparison to the Van De Walle book. Spend some time with this book, and you will be the grade level math expert! It is a real gem, and I recommend it for any elementary/middle school teacher of math. Activities galore, thought-provoking discussion, assessment ideas, research-based recommendations, and a website for more information and full-page printable blackline masters. I will keep my copy in the classroom as a daily reference. I do not regret my purchase, I recommend you get a good used copy - you don't need a new one.

I never received the book. Please do not buy from this seller. I think this is fate. They will try to charge you and get the money as soon as possible, but do not give you the book. Again, do not buy from this buyer. Not a reliable buyer at all.

I had to buy it for class and I like the activities in the book. What I dislike about it is that no matter where I bought it it was expensive.

I like the book, and goes great with my class. The book came a couple days before the estimated arrival date which was awesome. It is easy to read and to understand what the author is saying about teaching mathematics to elementary school children. It has some great ideas in it too.

This book is a great resource! It has many different examples on how to teach all the different aspects of mathematics. I would suggest it to anyone who is teaching a math class for any age group.

Covers all math topics. Good for grades K-8. I bought it for my Math methods class and it is very informative.

I bought this book as a textbook for my math methods class and later found out that I would not need it after all. However, I am not returning it because this is a fabulous book with a ton of ideas for incorporating math into any subject! I would definitely recommend it!

I needed this book for an education class. It was the cheapest one I could find in good shape.I am enjoying the class and useing the books. I hope to become an elementary teacher and this book is very helpful.

I never received the item so there is not much to review. I did pay for it though, and the purpose for a graduate level course in education. I wish I had more to say, but the seller never sent it and is no longer a registered user of ebay. I imagine that had I received the book it wuold have been useful.

The book is okay. The information is useful for elementary teachers or college students training to become an elem techer. I bought the book because it was required for a Math Methods class I am currently enrolled in. I do not suggest you buy the book from the company that i did. They were very slow and were not helpful when emailed.
