NYC's Finest Brings in the Old-School Noise of Garage Rock
Review created: 12/05/02

Pros:
A Loud, Bluesy Album from the Mooney Suzuki.

Cons:
Only 10 Songs, Leaves You Wanting For More.

With the new wave of garage rock bands gaining attention for 2002, a new era of stripped-down rock n roll is back with bands like the Strokes, the White Stripes, the Hives, and the Vines. Of course like every movement or era in rock, there are always the bands or artists that never receive the same attention or credit like their peers. In the 60s British Invasion that was led by the Beatles, the Who, the Kinks, and the Rolling Stones, there were bands like the Small Faces and the Pretty Things that never got the credit they deserved. For every Jefferson Airplane and other psychedelic bands,...

I'll Give The Mooney Suzuki A Little Bit of Love
Review created: 07/16/03

Pros:
Incredibly fun rock and roll.

Cons:
It's only 35 minutes long.

It may be hard to believe, but I actually heard about The Mooney Suzuki on Mtv2. I didn't see a video or anything, but actually caught a little news about a big music event and the VJ mentioned that the best rockin' act he had seen by far was The Mooney Suzuki. So I made a mental note to check the band out. A year later, I finally did. I can't believe I waited so long. Recently I purchased the band's 2002 release, Electric Sweat at my local independent music store. Now, a few weeks later, I'm surprised my copy of Electric Sweat isn't worn out yet because it has been playing constantly. What...

  Rock music this is
Review created: 06/02/04

Pros:
Life, originality, fun and kudos

Cons:
It's not Perry Como

I could give you comparisons but 'Young heart attack', 'The Blueskins' or '!!!' might not make sense to you. I could try to describe their music but it's only words and couldn't convey the fun and the life in these tracks. I could try a time reference but I don't think 'The best rock music from 1965 to 2004 distilled into one 10 track disc' really gives you much of an idea of what you're missing. I could say 'If you like raw rock then this is the album you've been waiting 10 years for' but I don't know how you define 'rock music'. Instead I'll say 'hey, this one's fantastic'
