Publisher's Note
Darkness falls…despair abounds…evil reigns…
Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. Soon he is on the journey of a lifetime, his eyes open to awe-inspring new places and people, his days filled with fresh adventure. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems. Before long, Eragon doesn’t know whom he can trust.
Meanwhile, his cousin Roran must fight a new battle–one that might put Eragon in even graver danger.
Will the king’s dark hand strangle all resistance? Eragon may not escape with even his life. . . .

Part 2 of The Inheritance Series

I normally do not sit down and read books, as I am not an avid reader, but this was a pleasant exception. I read this book from start to finish in just a few days and I simply loved every minute of it. It is the 2nd book in The Inheritance Trilogy, and the sequel to Eragon. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys the Fantasy/Adventure genre of books, particularly people who enjoy dragon books. Read Eragon first, and then read Eldest. You wont regret it.

      BOY BOOK!

If you are a 6th-8th grade boy this is a fantastic pick! This is the classic orphan boy storyline that reads exactly like Star Wars: boy raised by uncle finds out his father is the empire of doom. It has a cool dragon and the real learning curve is a battle of ?real? brothers and the bonding of ?adopted? brothers but most teens miss that part.

As an adult who reads a lot of teen literature I found this a good read and I was genuinely interested in the character development of ALL the brothers and the dragon. It did not keep me up all night riveted, but it did make great ?forced? bedtime reading for teenage boys who hate to read. It is a story that is best served by being read out loud by a good reader that can pronounce weird words in a flash.

This is part two and unfortunately it will leave you hanging because the third book is not out yet. So if you are an adult who waited until all the Harry Potter books are written before you start the series, then be warned we have no inside news on when book three is coming out.
