If you like Harry Potter you will like Eragon & Eldest
Review created: 03/26/06

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter series. A friend of mine turned me on to Eragon and Eldest. They are incredible! I listed to the unabridged CD version of both on my way to and from work. The voices are excellent. You know who is talking at any point in time. The story is captivating. You don't want to stop listening and look forward to the next time you can get in the car and hear another chapter. You must listen or read Eragon fist. Eldest picks up exactly where Eragon leaves off. I can not wait for the third book in thier series to be released.

  A great story

If you think a great story has to have a lot of violence and action, you will NOT like this book. I Loved it because of that reason. It's a story of patience, perseverence, generosity, self reflexion, and if you read between the lines, a great philosophical message. It's delivered in a falsly naive package, through Eragon's seemingly innocent questions - religions, politics, ethics, love, war and relationships, everything is questioned and some of the answers are a very sharp critic of our own society... Those are all the questions young adults sometimes struggle with and Christopher/Eragon is no exception. His answers show a lot of maturity for such a young age. Now if you want to judge it from your old, cynical and closed mind, you might find some of the answers naive or immature... But I would like to know how many books YOU wrote by the time you were 20... I found this book positively refreshing and courageous and I could not wait to get to the end, and now I can't wait for the next one.

  Eldest Audiobook
Review created: 04/11/09

I have enjoyed listening to this series. Some have said it is to similar to other well known books, but I disagree. All fantasy can basically be boiled down to good against evil. It is how the characters are created and relate that matters most in a book to me. I want to be taken to a place where I am not. To escape my personal reality. This book does that. I originally listened to the book from a monthly rental business. I enjoyed it so much I made this purchase. I will at some point in the future return to this book and listen to it again! I always "hear" something I missed before or perceive it in a different way.

Mr. Doyle does a very good job reading Eldest His characterization of the female characters could be stronger. He pronounces the languages used well and does so with the proper emotion.

  Eldest
Review created: 08/16/08

I just finished listening to Eragon (the first book in the series) and loved being able to hear the book instead of reading it myself (which I had done a while ago). I picked up a lot more detail in the listening than I did in the reading so I bought Eldest to continue listening to the story.

Paolini's skills as a writer are maturing. The plot is more intricate. I think both Eragon and Eldest are excellent. I read the books first and then got the audio cds. You have to read or hear them more than once to get all the details. Can't wait for the third book to come out. Way to go Christopher!

Review created: 03/05/08

The book is slow for the first 3/4 of the book but the last quarter is really exciting. I wanted to read it because eragon was so good. I was really looking forward to reading this book and it was only worth it cause of the exciting and crazy ending. I am looking forward to the next book.

I enjoy books of all kinds, I don't get much time to read so the audio books are excellent. The way its read it is like reading the book. After listening to Eregon, the antisipation for the Eldest book to come out was hard.

  Awesome!!
Review created: 07/03/07

I read the book and it was so awesome, I had to buy the audio books to listen to it at work. This is the 2nd book in the series. Aragon's adventures continue, as well as training and preparing for the battle against Galbatorix's armies.

Most excellent continuation to the Eragon book.
Review created: 05/07/07

This was a very excellent continuation from the eragon book. I was impressed by the writer on how much knowledge he has about the politics on how things work for his age on this book series. I am very much anticipating the next book in the series.

  Eldest
Review created: 04/04/07
by:

My son is really into wizards, dragons, etc.(started with Harry Potter) Once we read Eragon, we wanted more. Eldest delivers. We can't wait for the third book in the trilogy. Lots of action and suspense in a world where technology is not king and magic, both good and evil, are portrayed well.
I would strongly recommend following the books in order. As with any series, there are things in the first book that you need to know to understand the second book. The ending leaves you rabid for the third book. We jusr wish it would come out already.

This is the second book in the Eargon Series. Each book stands alone but continues beautifully. Its reader blends and weaves the story until you feel that you are actually there.

The Kid Is Good Eldest is AWESOME
Review created: 12/21/06
by:

STOP You MUST read ERAGON BEFORE listening to or reading this incredible book

I read Eragon and really liked it. I listened to Eldest and LOVED it. The author has a great knack for drawing the complete picture in your imagination. Real characters who you feel like you know them. Gerard Doyle, the man who reads the book to you gives the characters life and feeling, he gives each of the many characters their own voice, and his British accent really adds to the whole ambience that is created while listening to this story. The only thing I don't like about this trilogy, the third book isn't available yet. I highly recommend that you first read Eragon or you'll just be lost on the whole storyline.

Eldest: Part II of the Inheritance Trilogy
Review created: 08/27/06

I loved this book! Eldest is a continuation of the first book in the Inheritance Trilogy, Eragon. In this book Eragon further develops his abilities as a dragon rider and his understanding of the world with help from the elves. While this is happening Eragon’s home town comes under attack by the Ra’zac and soldiers from the Empire forcing the town to fight back. The book leads to a great battle between the Empire and the independent country of Surda who is trying to resist the evil ruler Galbatorix.

The only bad part Eldest is that it leaves you hanging after some surprising revelations towards the end. The last book doesn’t have a release date yet but summer of 2007 seems most likely. I can’t wait!

I am a great fan of the Harry Potter series.I saw the book Eragon in my brother's hand and thought that i had just read it. But after i read the book I was very eager to read the second one 'ELDEST'. Now that i have read it I think that it's fantastic. It's a gret deal gripping than those of the Harry Potter series. It's just spectacular.
