The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition) (Xbox 360, 2007)

This game, comparing cost to what you get, is one of the best games you can purchase. The main quest lasts about 30 hours, and that is only a very, very small part of the game. There are 4 guilds to join (each one at least 15 hours a piece), and the 2 expansions (Shivering Isles and Nights of the Nine) add immense value to a game that lasts so much longer than other current games without sacrificing too much in quality of content. The environments in a game like Gears of War, which is much, much shorter, are only a bit better than the ones in Oblivion GOTY. The detail in the dungeons and people you communicate with are very good for something with as much content as this game has. The only down side is that while you can just head out and explore, it can be intimidating to have that much freedom for people not used to that type of gameplay. You can follow just the main quest, but would be missing a ton of content, really the best content in the game is not in the main quest so branching out is the way to go. Highly, highly recomended game.
