Dear Friends of Einstein,
Because this story took place over a century ago, this is in part a history book of the development of physics. Comparing Newton and Einstein from their youth to publication of theories which changed our understanding of the physical world.
Stachel spends a great amount of time understanding the relationship of Einstein's thinking to other physicists of his day. The growing use of theoretical physics and the birth of quantum physics.
The writing style is easy to read, however I found myself frequently researching the other physicists to better understand how they might have influenced Einstein.
Best Regards,
Shaun
