GREAT GAME TO OWN - Final Fantasy 7 Fighting Mode

I completely recomend buying and not renting this game. There is hours of fun with it, specially when you play dungeon mode; on this mode you get to go down a dungeon killing things that will give you experience and let you find cool stuff along the way (armors and weapons). The mini games have a little feel like Mario Party where you will be playing against your buddies and will be having tons of fun. Other than that, this game is basically Final Fantasy 7 characters on fighting mode.

There are no other games in the likeness of Ehrgeiz, simply because this game is more than just a fighting game. It provides a classic arcade mode, in which the player can fight his/her way through a number of stages in a traditional, 1-on-1 sense, or fight against a second player. Also, exclusive to the console version of the game are the 7 bonus characters appearing from Final Fantasy 7. There is also a minigame mode, in which players can choose arcade mode characters to solve puzzles or achieve high scores in a number of different side tasks. However, the real heart of Ehrgeiz I think, is the quest mode.

In quest mode, the player is introduced to 2 new characters that take part in a dungeon-exploring, RPG-style adventure. There are weapons and armor to buy and equip, as well as monsters that drop loot when they are defeated. Players can easily play over 60+ hours in this game mode alone.

Replay value is moderate, assuming that everything has been completed in the game.

I bought this game just because I'm a Final Fantasy fan and wanted to play something different other than usual RPG. I thought it was an interesting game. Though it's almost a copy of Tekken/2, I still thought it was interesting. The Dungeon game was good as well.

I bought this game cause I played it a really long time about when I was a kid. It was probably 10 years ago. Anyway the main reason why I bought the game was for the story mode that you can play. I really enjoyed it a lot and to honestly tell you the truth it held up well for a 10 year old game. The thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was that in the story mode the big disappointment was the ending. I wont go into details here cause I don't want to ruin it for you but its a little bit of a let down. There are other mini games that you can play that are good, the fighting mode or tournament mode is good but the combos are lacking. Graphics hold well for the age of the game. The soundtrack for the story mode is off the chain and the interface is easy to get used to and learn. Overall this game has a lot to offer regardless if you are a hardcore Final Fantasy fan or not. It brings a lot of memories back so its a fun trip down nostalgia avenue if you've ever played this game back in the day. If you want a deal check out Half.com instead of eBay. I got mine for $30 while eBay sellers wanted $50 or more! Good Luck!

I first learned about this game when my brother had It, he's a big fan of fighting games but I realized It also had a quest mode, and I got hooked on playing the quest mode and for that was the only reason why I got this game, even though It also has some mini games In It which I don't like. If you play the quest mode in hard mode, I seriously dont think It Is possible to beat as you have to play the dungeon all through Its 21 areas without the convienence of the town where you go to rest, buy, sell, upgrade and repair your weapons and armor. The hardest part about It Is It costs money to save, the more you train the more It costs to save. If you don't go to town you can't sell any extra Items you found for gold. Really a good game to keep you occupied, just like Final Fantasy VII.

to tell the truth, i only wanted this game because of the final fantasy VII characters. Ehrgeiz is a good game overall but it's obviously not good as the games today. i do love the mini games and all, and the gameplay would have been considered pretty damn awesome years ago. Basically if you like old school games this is the game for you.

Ehrgeiz, a sony playstation game which allows you to fight your way through a series of stages to become the ultimate fighter. Squaresoft, the producers of Ehrgeiz, used characters from their hit sensation, Final Fantasy 7 to increase the credibility of the game. You are allowed to use characters such as Tifa, Yuffie, Sephiroth, and Cloud in two different modes. A 3D Fighting mode and a Mini Game mode(both modes are compatible with two players). The Games consist of four different games, Infinity Battle, Battle Runner, Battle Beach, and Battle Panel. Each mode testing the players skills as well as their smarts. Besides the fighting and Mini Games you are enable to enter a realm of adventure of a one player quest mode. This mode allows a player to build their character with armor and weaponry while roaming the overworld. Once a person is satisfied with a character they may enter a dungeon, where fighting is not the only the key to survival. One will have to will have to be cautious of their characters status, proper food will be needed for a player to survive and stay at the peak performance in fighting. Ehrgeiz has become a power seller for collectors and is a game of its own for in the playstation era!

this is a great fighter game. my favorite part about it is that you can use final fantasy 7 characters in a fighting game. i played this game a lot years ago, and i don't know what happened to it but i was able to find another at ebay at a reasonable price (wasn't exactly cheap but this is a pretty rare game and it came in great condition). i love how it isn't just a fighter game, it's like getting 3 games in one; the main arcade fighting game, mini games like racing and a strange puzzle type game requiring you tag squares on the ground, and even a role-playing game mode. i haven't gotten around to playing the RPG dungeon quest mode of it too much but i like what i've seen so far. i like how in arcade mode you can get good or bad endings, depending on whether or not you beat the final enemy, which is a bit difficult because they put alot of time stress on you with the credits rolling while you're supposed to beat it and the hectic music, and you can't just fight you have to figure out how to throw swords at it.

  A mediocre ripoff of Tekken.

It was a gift for my friend who said that the AI of it was ridiculous and very cheap. However if you're a Final Fantasy VII fan, you'll probably get a kick out of it.

i am a huge sephiroth fan and i remember playing this game when i was little abviously i rented it so ironically buying it from him as he got it from the same type of store i rented it long ago is ironic. i have played it and it works fine. the price was good because everytime i try to get my hands on this game it tends to go for at least 25 30 or more $$$. even a cd thats in worse shape then this one made around $20 so selling it seemed good. the item came to me at no time at all. thnks.

A Great Figher With Tons of Extras
Review created: 12/07/08(updated 12/30/08)

I bought Ehrgeiz when it first came out, mainly because it featured characters from Final Fantasy VII, including Cloud, Sephiroth, and Vincent. Ehrgeiz is different from most fighting games in that it allows you full 3D movement; it’s like playing a 3D action game. It also features a fun dungeon mode in which you explore dungeons of varying difficulty while killing enemies, gaining levels, and finding new weapons. The dungeon mode is surprisingly fun and addictive, and is probably the part of the game that I spent the most time on. There are also various mini games to keep you occupied. The fighting game aspect is actually well done, with a variety of characters and levels. The levels usually feature ledges that you can jump onto, and interactive objects (such as boxes that reveal hidden items when destroyed). Each character has a large array of special moves and combination attacks so the game is very easy to learn but difficult to master.

Overall Ehrgeiz is a very well rounded fighting game with a ton of extra features. Highly recommended.

Pros:
- Play as characters from Final Fantasy VII
- Fun dungeon mode
- Free 3D movement

Cons:
- Single player fighting mode gets old quickly

Very rare game, that I found fairly easy on Ebay! I spent a lot of time searching from store to store trying to find it. This game includes arcade fighting action, challenging mini games, and a full featured rpg adventure. It offers a variety of characters including Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent, Ken Mishima, and many more. This game is a very good buy, that I recommend for anyone with a playstation, ps2, or ps3!
