Synopsis After a brush with death, four friends leave the city and move to the Cornish countryside, where one of them, Emmy, owns a capacious manor house. The other inhabitants include Emmy's young daughter, whose parentage is mysterious; Niall, one of Emmy's ex-lovers; and Sita and Jonathan (with their children), who begin to suspect that the pastoral life is not for them.
