Eddie Murphy - Delirious (DVD, 2007)

a must to have,, you know the show he put on ,,, I got a ice cream and you dont because your on welfare,,,, what a riot this act was,,, its a must to have for any adult,,, just put this dvd in and everyone will pee there pants in laughter,,,, trust me,, since this dvd got release in feb. 2007 i put money in stocks of the depends company,,, you watch this you will need depends because you will pee your pants of laughter...

This DVD of Eddie's first BIG stand up ans HBO special,will always be his best and my favorite! Before he became a house hold word,this special was made. it has Murphy's innocence and a softness about it as he tells tales of growing up with his family in NY and many other funny routines. Dont expect him to do Buckwheat on this special. This is Murphy all over!!!!!!!!!!!

Most stand up comedy is reliant on timing – not just the timing of the jokes, but the relevance of the material. What was once cutting edge becomes passé; what once was a new observation is now cliché.

So it is easy to look back and judge Eddie Murphy: Raw and be harsh. The material (sex, white people, The Man, etc.) has been covered countless times in similar fashions by today's comedians. Some of the material, especially the more homophobic segments, would probably not be accepted even in the relaxed moral atmosphere of the comedy club.

But it is nearly impossible to deny the influence that Murphy and his routines had on a host of today's comedians, and Raw is a solid documentation of his work.
It's questionable how much of Murphy's material was groundbreaking even when he did it. Richard Pryor is a very obvious influence on the The Adventures of Pluto Nash star, and it shows both in his delivery and in his routine.

There's also a sophomore slump to deal with here - Delirious is clearly Murphy's best stand up work. Maybe it is unfair to compare the two, but Raw lags far behind the earlier work (Delirious, however, is not available on DVD – an absolute travesty).

That being said, Raw does have it's fall-down funny moments. Modern day comedy audiences generally see celebrity impersonations as hack material, but Murphy manages to do not only decent impersonations, but also give them funny material. The extended bit about Bill Cosby calling Murphy and offering some unsolicited advice is priceless.

In addition, Murphy is hysterical when talking about his own life. The best comedy often comes from reflection on a comic's life, and Murphy's ruminations on fame and how it has affected his dating life are funny precisely because they are unique. They are from his life, not from observing other people.

well... it beats louie anderson, but it was a long time ago. the early 80s called, they want you to get a life. i mean, how many years can you go on about a stupid ice cream joke? or the bear wiping it's ass with the bunny... that was funny, but move on, it's old. ok, i'm out.

This DVD is great! It's Hilarious! I love it! Eddie Murphy is really funny.
It's not good for kids though. I can watch over and over again and I'll always laugh each time. But if your a woman who gets offended by sexual terms and words this is not for you. I Love it!! I recommend it!! A+++ Hilarious!!!!!!

it has been 24 years to get Delirious on dvd! i had to buy it!

Good Stuff, it will make you laugh, and it's good to laugh. It's a classic that remains just as funny as it was when it first made it's debut in the 80s.

I PURCHASED THIS DVD BECAUSE TO ME ITS A CLASSIC AND ALTHOUGH EDDIE MURPHY HAS MOVED ON TO BIGGER AND GREATER THINGS. HIS ROOTS WERE IN STAND UP COMEDY AND NO ONE ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WILL EVER TOP THE ICE CREAM MAN! WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ALL THE FOUL LANGUAGE THIS DVD WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH.

I have not receive this tape yet, and I cannot understand why it is taking so long,I bought it because it is very funny, and I could not find it anywhere eles so I thought that I would try Ebay, but now I am having second thoughts. because of the long wait I thought I did something wrong, this is my third time order from you, and the first two time no problem but with this tape its been over a month, so when I do receive i will write another review..Thank you

this is one of the funniest things that eddie has done. also, my son had downloaded some of the jokes on his psp and i thought that he would like to have all of the material. it was funny 25 years ago and it still funny to this day. i like the joke about the bar-b-que.

Eddie Murphy's Delirious impressions & social commentaries was the 1980s, its what all those VH1 shows (the rock of the 80s, etc...)inspire to be. I invited a bunch of my buddies over to watch this & we laughed our asses off! I couldn't stop my self from laughing even at his Michael Jackson impression, I think even Michael Jackson laughed @ Eddie Murphy's impression of him.
Outside of David Chapell I don't know of anyone as talented as Eddie Murphiy!

Eddie Murphy is a genius comedian. He takes everyday life and makes it hilarious. I would recommend this stand up comedy for adults only. The language is pretty bad but overall a must see for Eddie Murphy fans.

this is not an act for folks easily offended by obscenity, but it's classic comedy gold, and undoubtedly eddie murphy's greatest performance in stand up! if you don't laugh yourself silly at this material, there's no need to purchase any more comedians' stand up. there is stuff by other comedians as good, but nothing better!

This is a true stand-up comedy classic.Eddie does some of his greatest material.From Ice Cream Man,his Shoe Throwing Mother to Family BBQ and more,just pure gut busting,pee your pants,raw,hilarious comedy story after another.This is the show that really put Eddie on the map.Eddie has done some great things since "Delirious",but in my opinion he never topped this.If you want to see an excellent young,raw Eddie Murphy,watch this.It's not for the kiddies or people who get offended at cuss words(there are alot) or basically just get offended easily.If you are none of these,and enjoy great comedy,watch this.You won't be disappointed.

His funniest DVD ever! My husband and I have tried to find it for years and I finally got it from ebay. If you want a cheeks hurting bc your laughing so hard DVD, this is it. He uses foul language so it's definitely not for little ears.

I really wanted the dvd, now I just want my money back! This is terrible. I bought this item over a month ago and it still has not arrived. This seller has not contacted me nor responded to any of my emails. I definitely wouuld not reccomend anyone doing business with this seller. Nothing personal, but business is business, and they don't have good business.

Eddie Murphy is probably one of the most talented American comedians. Delirious is indeed hilarious, a side from a few too many "..and sh*t" or early eighties negative comments on homosexuals, this is no less than a cult must have !

The funneyest stand-up comedian routine I have ever seen. Alot of cursing but it all fits in with his routine. If you love stand-up and do not mind cursing this is the video for you.
