Ed Emberley's Picture Pie by Ed Emberley (2006, Paperback)

I think Ed Emberley is one of the best teachers of art and craft for kids. His thumbprint books were a huge hit with me and my friends when we were kids, and my stepdaughter has loved his books that take small basic shapes and show how to turn them into a variety of objects step-by-step. This is a book on how to work in an entirely new medium--paper cut-outs! I have found the book helpful to use when I'm scrapbooking, and I have made many of my own creations for scrapbook pages as a result.

The great thing about all of Emberley's books is that he turns anyone into an artist. If you're intimidated by drawing or illustrating, his books can help show you how to draw or make almost anything. I keep his books in my own classroom to help kids have success with their own picture books. It makes their own creations much better visually, and the books give them lots of self-confidence. They can't believe what they're actually capable of producing!
