Stephenie Meyer redeems herself! With this third installment of the Twilight series, Meyer brought me back to the "biggest fan" club. By the end of this book, you will be craving more! Luckily we will all get are thirst quenched in the upcoming fourth book "Breaking Dawn". I highly recommend this read!

  The Worst of the 3

This book was so slow and so unlike the other books, I couldn't even finish it. Also, she seems to have taken a LOT of her storylines from the series by L.J. Smith (The Vampire Diaries). There are just WAY too many similarities between her books and the ones by LJ. Her writing went from provacative and intriguing to boring.

BOO to this book!

Awesome book. I was leary about reading a "teen" book, but the series are great. This book was terrific! I really enjoyed the love triangle between human, vampire and werewolf. Give these books a try, you won't be disappointed!

  Caught between a Vampire and Werewolf~ it BITES~ :-)
Review created: 07/15/08(updated 07/15/08)

this is the third book in this series and by FAR the BEST~

Bella Swan is caught between 2 'very' attractive males~ Edward a Vampire and Jacob a Werewolf~ it "bites" LOL~ when a mystery involving all three in a series of killings in Seattle we are swept up in the Mystery of the TRIO~

Young People's Book but any one who likes a good vampire tale will also enjoy~
well written and keeps up a good Pace~ solid fun read~~

I give this a solid 8 out of 10 for great follow up story in this Trilogy by this author~

A Series Romeo and Juliet would envy

There is nothing not to love about Eclipse (as well as the first 2 books in the twilight series) Eclipse is another adaptation to a timeless love story that will live on forever. Like Jane Austen before her, Stephanie Meyers name and stories will live on forever. Whoever reads these books will be struck by its magic, and stunned by its soul.

This is one in a series of books about vampires and werewolves. The plot is interesting. I am a high school librarian and this book has great appeal to the teen crowd. Excellent writing!

I am in love with the twilight series. This is a great YA book, good also for adults wanting a squeaky clean read. The confilct and dillema are heart wrenching and the story and imagery are vivid and captivating.

  A Dalliance with Wolves
Review created: 07/03/08

In my review of Twilight, I said that the book had more in common with "Catcher in the Rye" and "Pride and Prejudice" than it did with any vampire novels or stories. That still holds true, although be certain: I'm not comparing Twilight or New Moon to these books in terms of literary quality. There are few that match either.

In New Moon we miss the vampires for most of the story, and Bella spends time with her friend Jacob, an Indian fated with becoming a werewolf, and fated to hate all "bloodsuckers", regardless of whether or not the bloodsuckers took human lives. (Btw, that little bit is cleared up at the end...what exactly their treaty entails. It's interesting, kind of, but I have to wonder if the author thought of it as the story was being written, and that it wasn't planned when the "treaty" was first mentioned. I suppose it doesn't matter.)

If you're reading this story because you like vampire stories, you will be disappointed. Edward's only around for a bit less than 1/3 of the book. When he is around, however, his presence is appreciated. One thing that the author didn't do this time, and it was similarly appreciated, was to have Bella writing down every single thought that she had regarding his absolute perfection (remember, this is a first person narrative).

While spending time with "the wolves", Bella goes through some interesting growth patterns. I say interesting, because I'm not entirely certain that I followed them or that if I understood them that I agreed with them. That said, I've never been a teenage girl, and the author has been a teenage girl, so I have to bow to her experience in this.

Many readers will look at Bella's behavior during her "dalliance with wolves" as bizarre and entirely unbelievable. I don't think they were. For anyone that has had the absolute love of their life torn from them, with the *absolute* belief that this love would not return, and if you happen to be emotionally immature to top all of this off, your behavior wouldn't be too far off from Bella's. I'm not saying exactly like Bella's, just not too far off.

Again, this is not a vampire story. The fact that vampires were not around in this book as often as some may have liked did not lessen the quality of the story. What was missing, though, was the urgency, and the mystery. For example, we never knew why, in Twilight, Edward recoiled upon first seeing Bella until the very end. We had a reaction, and a resolution, and during that time we had lots of questions. That type of immediacy was missing here. Everything was rather straightforward.

When Edward lies to Bella, we know that he is lying, and we know that there will be resolution. The problem is that we know he's lying, and we know the resolution won't be too surprising.

I did enjoy the unique take on werewolves, but I felt that since we had seen so much of the vampires in the first book, that we should have seen and felt more of the werewolves in this book.

One thing that I found particularly frustrating was the similarity of emotion that both Jake and Edward have for Bella. Yes, Bella is a clutz, and she definitely needs protecting. But to have two main characters, in two separate books, respond to her in a nearly identical manner (both fearing for, and being vocal about, her need to be less careless), is tough to buy.

There were some hints of future issues between the Cullens and Jake's clan. I hope we see them. And I hope that this story can survive the necessary metamorphosis

This book was beautiful! It truly looked brand new!
Review created: 06/06/08

This is an excellent book. I would recommend it to anyone who loves romantic storie filled with twists and turns. Not only is this the love story of Bella and Edward, it is the story of trust, and overcoming impossible obsticles. Meyer writes exquisitely. Readers can feel the pain Bella and Edward go through when their apart. This is a remarkable book. Once it is started, it really is impossible to put down. Buy all three books at once, as soon as one is finished, you'll want the next one immediately. Look forward to the fourth book, coming out August 2nd!!!

This book was very intense and interesting throughout it's entirety. It is enjoyable because of the way it is easy to read, yet has a very dramatic plot. I would reccommend this to many people I know and would definately reccommend buying it because it's one that can be read again and again.

I bought the book because my daughter LOVES the author! My daughter got the book on Friday and today is Saturday and she is already finished reading it. I say anything that keeps my 16 and a 1/2 year old off of the chat sites has to be the best thing going since sliced bread. KUDOS to the author for keeping my daughter so interested that she reads and then re-reads these novels over and over again!!!!!

I loved it, the third installment in this wonderful series. It is as interesting as the first and second books and it will hold you trapped in the story. Without a doubt keeping you entertained and wanting more, no needing more. You will finish the book with only one regret, the fourth book is not out yet to continue your journey.

My daughter is thirteen, and loves to read. She was introduced to this series in her Middle school and got addicted. She couldn't wait to read the next one in the series, but was on a waiting list to get the title. So, for her birthday, I ordered it on Ebay. She absolutely loved it. And now wants the next one.

I started reading this series because my 13 year old daughter was and she asked if I would like to. I immediately became hooked. The books are wonderful for the young mind. They keep you interested without the sex that we try to shield our children from. And they are also interesting enough to keep the avid adult reader interested.

Just as before this book is as good as their counterpart if not better. The conflict between Edward and Jacob was extreme as they were always ready to kill each other but couldn’t for fear of hurting Bella, and as before I had felt myself portrayed in the role of Bella. These are some of the best written books I have ever read. This book as well as the others have captured my attention and kept it till the very end. This new version of Romeo and Juliet has a better ending than the original it has the happily ever after that was only wished for in the original. The fact that a future marriage was included made it all that much better. I was happy with Bella’s decision in the end even though it still meant a sacrifice. It was the perfect fairy tale played out in a modern time period. It opened the imagination to a new place and new experiences.
