This compilation spans Pink Floyd's career from 1967s 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn' to 1994s 'The Division Bell'. There has been an attempt to segue many of the tracks into each other and the tracks selected do represent a sizeable portion of Pink Floyd's best songs (the selections were voted for by the band themselves and Roger Waters). If tracks like 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond', 'Comfortably Numb', 'Money', 'Another Brick in the Wall (part 2)'and 'Time' do nothing for you then you should perhaps be out buying the latest Crazy Frog record. So, a double CD compilation of great songs from one of the most popular bands ever sounds great. And it is. But... Pink Floyd were (and are, if applicable) predominantly an album band. Their biggest sellers - 'Dark Side of the Moon', 'Wish You Were Here' and 'The Wall' - are albums that function as units and are so strong that I would actually recommend them more than this compilation, which, in its attempt to collate everything ends up sounding patchy. British television runs any number of top 100 shows (top 100 films ever, top 100 comedy shows ever, etc.) the basic format of which is to run down the list from 100 to 1 showing excerpts from each and having people talk about why they were so good. I always feel after watching one of these programmes that the clips from the featured shows are great, but it's not the same as seeing the show itself. This is how I feel after listening to this compilation. It could have been more satisfying if it had been compiled chronologically, but the truth is that given the strength of all the main Pink Floyd albums in their own right, any compilation (bar maybe material previously unavailable on CD) is almost certainly redundant.
This is the BEST of the BEST of the most eccentric and most unique sounding rock bands of all time, Pink Floyd! What a rought time they had to have to choose which great songs made this compilation!
Echoes is just another A+ release by Pink Floyd. I love how they took so many of their endless classics and compiled them into such an excellent album. I was a little disapointed to see several of my personal favorites left out. But hey, I can always buy the box set right!! I still gave this album 5 stars because it's just too good to be warrant anything less.
Thought it was a pretty good music CD, but not great. As I read someplace else in a review, lot of long songs that are just kind of musical and boring. Thanks to some of great songs on this 2 CD set, I will at least give this CD a GOOD, some old hits or popular songs on one of these CD's. Overall recommended to buy.
I DECIDED TO BUY TO GO WITH MY RECORD SET OF THE SAME NAME .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard a couple of Pink Floyd songs on the radio and decided I wanted to add some Pink Floyd to my ipod. I looked around and decided this was the best cd to get. I was looking for all the standard greats, Money, Another Brick in the Wall, Us and Them, etc..., I was surprised at all the songs on this cd. This cd hard more hit songs than I was looking for. It also haa a couple of long songs on the cd. Something the truest Floyd fan will appreciate. So, for all you big Pink Floyd fans out there, this cd will not disappoint you. For those of us who like all kinds of rock music, you'll love it too.
I Bought this CD for my husband for a Christmas gift. I knew he wanted it a long time ago and I remembered it around Christmas time. He loves the Cd, The only problem is that it's a used Cd and there were quite a few scratches on it when I received it. I played it and all the songs played except one that skipped. I didn't want to return it because it was only $10.00. When I placed my bid I was extremely new to ebay and I thought it was a new Cd, come to find out it was used and I won it! I was giving it as a gift and hoped to get a new Cd. All I would have to say is make sure to read every little detail before making a bid and be sure to ask the seller questions if you have any at all.
If you're like most fans of Pink Floyd you're far more familiar with their work from Dark Side of the Moon on, than what came before. Echoes is a great mix of pre and post Dark Side Floyd. What I really enjoy is how the disc shuffles their older and newer material instead of the usual timeline format used on most "Best of" releases. Not only are all the Floyd classics here, but I bet there's a song or two that you've never heard too, and that's what makes this a more interesting "Best of" set than most.
"ECHOES, THE BEST OF PINK FLOYD" CONTAINS TWO DISCS.

DISC TWO INCLUDES THE SONGS...

-THIS CD INCLUDES THE LEGENDARY MUSIC OF PINK FLOYD FROM 1967-1994. SUCH RELAXING AND MELLOW MUSIC WHICH WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE!!
Most "best of" albums cover a band's career in chronological order but Echoes is not your typical "best of" album. The songs are all mixed together proving that no matter how you mix and match Pink Floyd you are always going to get awesome results. Both CDs flow like they were meant to be. I would not tout this collection as the definitive Pink Floyd but I would say that if you are looking to dig deeper into the vast discography of one of the greatest bands in the history of music without breaking the bank...start here. 5 Huge Stars.
This is an awsome cd. I have enjoyed it to the max. I recommend this to all the people who are into the classic rock. And get the best price on Ebay!!!!!!!
I just want to say that everyone whom enjoys the pink floyd legacy will find the title "ECHOES Best of Pink Floyd" all the band has left itself to.From the first song with disc one all the way through the last of disc two will find this complation rather Good. While we,all of us who know the band has had its time with and without its moments. The three or four songs found with the creative genious of Syd Barret will see the true clarity of poetic justice that Syd left.Afterway, enter David Gilmour the Guitarist for which pushed the Floyd on also did two albums without creative popular,Roger Waters, found a vioce in such songs as "Sorrow" and "Marooned" will always show David is just as potentual. The collection spans the lot of most popular cuts that bring the Pink Floyd into their own rights. If you are unfamiliar with the band these selections are "all dressing" with "great" stucture,(I do not know if I could have disected just the Darkside of the moon,as well.Quite a great profile.Ofcourse there are Six or Seven other Floyd Classics. What surprised me was the fact that the two parts of Wish You Were Here`s Shine on you crazy diamond was added as one selection,(although the two parts are played together on the "Great Dance Songs" LP.The collection though would not be complete without Roger Waters,"When the Tigers Broke Free" from the Wall soundtrak. All in all this combination fits well with my palate,I think everyone who enjoys the Floyd will agree;this is a "Great Gig in the Sky"
THe musics themseft are well so U don't feel like U R listen to a greatest hits of some sort. And being a Pink Floyd"s fan U alredy like them.IT's good buy for me.Thanks.
It was just like taking a trip down memory lane. I especially like the fact that I had bought it for my Godson who is 11. He requested it for Christmas was thrilled to receive it. Now he can share in some of the great rock "oldies" I loved so well.
I love the cd. I love the group. If i could of been around and been a hippy and visited Woodstock I would have. I decided to buy it because of the abouve reasons. It puts me in a mellow mood
you ask too much ..........................................................................................................................................................
It was good, the case was a little used condition but otherwise it was like expected. I would like other Pink Floyd too but find it hard to buy at reasonable prices, but I will continue to try.
Great Pink Floyd CD / Highly Rcommend! It has a lot of Pink Floyd's eailer stuff with Syd Barrett which is cool. I think this is a great collection of Pink Floyd songs all on two disk.
This has an absolutely wonderful compilation of Pink Floyd songs on it...songs that you would have to buy several CDs in order to get these special songs. Pink Floyd's music withstands time!
Pink Floyd is the one of the few bands who can escort the listener on a journey, without the use of any substances whatsoever. Good earbuds or headphones, and you're on your way. This should be the FIRST Pink Floyd CD one should buy, as people tend to either: a) love Pink Floyd or b) hate Pink Floyd. Should one love their unique music and style, it is almost a certainty that one will delve into the individual CD's that made this group unlike any other in musical history.
When the Tigers Broke Free is a Pink Floyd love song, much akin to a dirge; very moving. The Fletcher Memorial Home is just right for those political afficionados, and is itself a brief history lesson without the drone of traditional education. Great stuff. Start here, and stay Pink.
