I was in the middle of cutting a seasons worth of wood when my other saw died. I bought a CS-400 without doing research, but relied on the Echo reputation. Turns out it was a good choice. This saw is strong, and it cranks easily. Straight cuts through some thick oak, and pretty quiet for a chainsaw. Don't waste your money on other brands, the air filter and spark plug are easy to acess.

I bought this to replace an aging McCullough. Opened the box fueled and oiled etc. and it would not start. Thought I got a defective chainsaw. Left it for a day and tried again, and it started on the first pull. I think I flooded it that first time, priming it too much like my old saw required. Have used it a lot since then, starts within two pulls and cuts perfectly. Definitely would recommend.

I purchased this because of price and warranty. The saw is light weight and cuts fairly fast. I dislike that it takes a while to warm up and run without partial choke.

After 1 month of owning this 18" 40cc saw (cs 400) by echo, it is one of best purchase, the saw is very well balanced and the price is unbeatable (got from ebay). It is an all around saw for small tree, palm service co like us, mostly it bucks oak branches and limbs after the pole saw taking them down. It is the mid size between 10" smallest saw and 36" largest saw, you get the best balance.

) Get another chain & bar combo immediately - I put a 16" bar on it with a .325 x .050 Woodsman Pro 20RC chain on it and cuts through logs like butter! The stock pico chain is not worth using - you won't regret the change. Starts easy, anti-vibration damping works well. Great saw for the money!
