An Underwater Adventure Like No Other

Pros:
Supprisingly Deep Story
Beautifull
Challanging
Nothing quite like it!

Cons:
The difficulty could stop a few from finishing, stick at it!

Ecco has been around for a while now. He seems to be one of those 'mascot' type characters that is somewhat hidden away, making rare, but memorable appearences. The Ecco the Dolphin games on Sega's Mega Drive/Genesis system are held onto by Sega fans as classics, games to point out when fighting the age old Sega/Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft etc etc battle. Those games are and will always be great games, so taking those standards into a new dimension is a huge undertaking. Infact, after playing through Defender of the Future, its a massive undertaking! Story: At first glance the story can seem a...

Pros:
graphics, sound, gameplay

Cons:
difficult at times

Dive into the ocean into the digitally animated World of Ecco the Dolphin. Swim with the dolphins, punish the sharks, prey on the fish, make friends with the whales, and defend the future. . All the normal traits of a normal caretaker dolphin, what was that you said, dolphins can t defend the future? Well our Swedish pals Appaloosa tend to disagree. For they are aware of the things that the general public is not. That we are really at war 24 hours a day, Being watched by creatures known only as the Foe. And we are especially vulnerable to attack at this time; e for the Foe has shattered the...

Pros:
Great atmosphere, graphics, control,

Cons:
lack of direction at times

Being an early adopter of the Dreamcast I have always been a huge advocate for its sucess. Not because I am a Sega fan (to tell you the truth I'm not really a huge fan of Sega itself)but because I am a fan of video games period and if Sega can put together a competent or superior system with pretty good titles then I'm sold. It doesn't really matter who made the system, the games are what really matter. If friggin' Clorox put together a serious console and started slamming out great RPG's and action titles then I'd be the next one in line to pick it up. Yet the loyalty I have for Sega and my..

 The Genesis Star Returns

Pros:
Everything is far too good to miss this

Cons:
Challenge is rather hard.

Ecco is an incredible game that recreates the ocean as close as possible than just the feeling of blue space. This game is a shining example of the Dreamast's power.... The Story: In the not too distant future, Human and Dolphin begin to explore space. As humans went in search of other planets Dolphins swore to protect the earth. An enemy known only as THE FOE, began to attack the explorers. Thus the dolphins created The GUARDIAN. A crystal with enough energy to protect the entire earth, And so THE FOE began a nonstopping route of attack, searching for a weakness. Just as the GUARDIAN sent...

 Holy Mackerel! (Get it?)
Review created: 10/23/00

Pros:
Beautiful graphics and sound, innovative gameplay, intriguing puzzles and challenges. Gorgeous levels to explore and play in.

Cons:
Character is so fast and responsive that he's almost too maneuverable! Game gets difficult rapidly.

You know that a video game is good when you spend your first ten minutes playing it with your jaw slack and your eyes glazed over from lack of blinking. "Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of The Future" for Sega Dreamcast is that kind of game, and more. When the adventure first begins, you'll undoubtedly ignore the mission objectives and puzzles for a while, and simply delight in the discovery of Ecco's expansive and amazing underwater world. You play the part of a young dolphin named Ecco, who frolics in the seas of a not-too-distant future. A malevolent alien presence known only as 'The Foe' has...
