Publisher's Note
A table saw, router, basic hand tools, and this fantastic reference are all you need to make these handsome projects. Start simply with a sturdy kitchen knife block, and move on to a chest of drawers, a buffet cart, and finally an elegant country storage bench. Cutaway drawings show exactly how each design fits together, while line illustrations detail each individual part. Action photos from the shop show how to achieve each basic technique to make any of these practical projects for every room in the house. The living room gets a formal bookcase, and the dining room a jelly cupboard, plus 22 more projects to brighten your home.

Industry Reviews
This book by the author of Decks: How To Design and Build the Perfect Deck for Your Home (Rodale, 1992) begins with a thorough discussion of safety, tools, and materials. Specific projects follow, arranged according to the area e.g., kitchen, office, or bedroom in which the shelves or storage fixtures will be installed. In modern, conversational, and straightforward language, Snyder presents many useful and shop-savvy tips. His designs rely heavily on power tools, although most projects can be completed with simple hand tools, albeit at a much slower pace. The illustrations are large, informative, and well positioned, but the index is abbreviated and much too short to be of use. Still, most large woodworking collections will want a copy. Alexander Hartmann, INFOPHILE, Williamsport
