The popularity of portable gaming has increased over the last few years, as has the variety of sporting games that allows players to experience their favorite game first hand, and at any time they choose. GRETZKY NHL 06 by Page 44 Studios for the PS2 puts players in control of their favorite NHL team full of some of today�s biggest hockey stars, including Wayne Gretzky himself. Players are able to take their character through an entire hockey season, allowing fans of hockey to actually participate in a season, working their way through the game and learning as they go. Hopefully, if all goes well then the player will be able to take home the coveted Stanley Cup. Several different gameplay modes are available, including quick game, franchise (which puts gamers in control of the team as an owner), and online play. The Wayne vs Wayne mode even allows gamers to bring Gretzky himself out on the ice. The game also places a focus on team dynamics. The Team Chemistry system gives players a reason to make sure all of their team members get some play time by giving players bonuses for utilizing teamwork instead of relying on one powerful character. Hockey fans are sure to find the additions and revisions that GRETZKY NHL 06 has made to the NHL formula make the game that much more fun and addictive. The online play allows gamers to challenge others, while all of the offline modes give players plenty of challenges at home.
