ECW Heatwave '98 review

Another review by me for ECW dvd
The show started off with Justin Credible vs Jerry Lynn. These two guys feuded all Spring and Summer and this was the match to decide who won the feud. Credible and Lynn's matches all had the same formula and that is what made it so great. This was a tremendous matchup for these two. One spot that I loved in this match is the toprope hurricanrana from the inside of the ring to the outside fo the ring through the table. It got a very huge pop from the crowd. Credible gets the win with a SUPER TOMBSTONE. Indeed a 4.5 star classic until the end which made it a 5 star match.
Candido claimed that Lance Storm was not fit for the Triple threat and said that the reason that he attacked Storm was Storm had eyes for Chris Candido's wife, Tammy Lynn Sytch aka Sunny. Much like the Lynn/Credible match, it was fast paced and pretty much the same formula as past matches that these two have had. Lance Storm did some pretty good dives in this match as well. Candido gets the win with a toprope Powerbomb. This match gets a 4/5 rating. great showing by these two athletes
During a break we get a parking lot promo from the original Gangsta, New Jack to hype up the crowd. While doing the promo, New Jack was attacked by the Dudley Boyz and Jack Victory, thus having the weapons match between New Jack and Jack Victory removed from the PPV card.
The next match that we had was between Mike Awesome vs Masato Tanaka. This match also followed the same formula that they have had in previous matches in both FMW and ECW prior to this bout. Mike Aweosme lived by his name. He is 6'7 300 lbs and he was doing suicide dives and jumping off the ropes. He is incredibly versatile. The spots in this match were incredible. One spot that I always love is Masato's running chairshot, but during this night the running chairshot was different. Masato Tanaka took off from about 75 feet and ran from the rampway and nailed Awesome with the running chair. There was also a very nasty spot where Masato Tanaka powerbombed Awesome through a table on the outside of the ring and his head missed the table. Tanaka gets the vicotry with the tornado ddt on two chairs. This match gets 4.75/5 stars
The next match was for the ECW Tag team championship. It was between Jinsei Shinzaki and Hayabusa against Rob Van Dam and Sabu. This was definately the match of the night and probably match of the year. Shinzaki may be better known to American fans as Hakushi from the mid-90s WWF. AWESOME match. It's aerial and martial arts warfare from 4 of the best workers in the world. Hands down, to me this was THE best match of the night and realistically, one of the best matches I've ever seen!!! 5 stars
Taz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow: FTW Championship Match. Falls Count Anywhere Death Match. Hard-hitting, intense and BRUTAL brawl across the arena, notable for yet another jaw dropping finish. Taz ddts Bigelow through the ramp and Bugelow taps to tazmission. 4.75 stars
Dudley Boyz VS. Sandman, Dreamer, & Little Spike Dudley is the main event. This was a classic ECW brawl right here. Ladders, canes, tables, and f'n New Jack. The ref, Dreamer, Spike, and Sandman hit tree of woe dropkicks on all three Dudleys and Joel Gertner. ClassiC ECW. Dreamer wins it with DDT on ladder. New Jack gets revenege by destorying dudleys and Jack Victory to close the show after Victory tried to attack Dreamer. 4.75/5
With ECW, it gets no better than this PPV. if you are new to ECW get this
