Dyson DC28 Animal Upright Cleaner

This vacuum is very powerful. I had setting on Med and was vacuuming oriental rugs and it was actually pulling the wool pile out of the rug. I changed the setting as this isnt dust, it's the actual rug. But cleaning it does. It's a little cumbersome when you first start using it as there are so many ways to use it...takes a little getting used to. Love the fact that they have designed great pix to show how to use and assemble instead of having to read a 900 page novel...you get the picture ! Great unit.

I love the DC28! As people have said it really SUCKS picking up dog hair and dirty! The only problem with a dyson product is on-line purchase other then from Dyson direct is NOT COVER under there warranty...
Although the savings does make up in the short term. We will see how it holds up for the long term! All the write ups saw that it will last so we will see, we do love the price and the unit does everything its called on to do. Well worth the 485.00.

We love this vacuum. We have 2 dogs and occasionally have a few more come to visit so we vacuum all the time. My husband had elected to buy the Oreck and swore there was no difference. I had been fighting for a Dyson but never really won the war until, one of the pupps ate the Oreck's cord lol. Finally I was allowed to get the vacuum I wanted and OH BOY!!!!!! IS there a difference. I finally got home with it we put it together and decided to try it out at about 10:30pm. We just wanted to check it out. Well my Husband the Oreck lover took the Dyson over and ran around the house vacuuming everything. Behind the fridge, in the ceiling light crevices in nooks and crannies along the wall. It's Awesome period. It sucked up stuff out of the carpet that I swear had been there for years. We were astounded as we thought our floors were fairly clean. The only not negative but not so fun thing we ran into was trying to vacuum the stairs, because the wand is so long it creates a very awkward angle. It did still do a wonderful job sucking though. We are very happy with the purchase. We have only used it once and have not had it for 24hrs yet but are pleased with the experience so far.

I absolutely love this vacuum. I was a dye-hard Kirby fan and have not found a machine that compared (in my mind). That is until I purchased the Dyson DC28. We could not believe what was picked up in the canister the first swipe over just the first carpet. It was unbelievable what my old machine had left behind JUST below the surface. I would give this machine an Excellent rating for everything from cleaning to handling to user friendliness. An extremely well thought out machine.

Oh my gosh, I am so impressed with this vacuum. I have always had good vacuums - top of the line Kenmore etc. But after seeing the suction this vacuum has I can't believe it. It is worth every penny.

We bought the Dyson 28 on the advice of our daughter. Like us, she has inside dogs and was worried about pet hair in her carpet; and like me, she has asthma and has concerns about the cleanliness of carpet/rugs in general. We live in the country and have horses and cattle so our carpets/rugs have a unique problem. This Dyson 28 is fabulous. The first cannister made me sick to look at, to think that stuff was living in this house with us. My carpet/rugs look better with each use, and I'm sure I have less dog/horse/cattle hair and outside in general in my house. It weighs less than the model I had, and it is easier to use the attachments. The cannister - which I had doubts about- is efficient and easy to empty. Plus, no more bags! The suction is strong and stays consistent. Totally love it!

this is a must for any pet owner. this sweeper is awesome. i also got a screamer of a deal price wise compared to the going price of any retailer. i would not hesitate buying this product again.

Love the cleaner. It does everything the ads say it will do. We bought it based on what our Son and daughter inlaw said about theirs.

I purchased the Dyson DC28 Animal Upright Cleaner because we have a dog and cat that both shed alot. The DC28 model is designed and advertised for pet hair and the reviews I had read before I purchased were all good. We have had ours for two months now, and I would agree that this model does an excellent job in getting the pet hair out of the carpet. It cost quite a bit more than the Hoover cleaner it replaced, however there is no comparison in the dirt and hair the Dyson picks up. It's bagless but not too messy to empty. No belts to replace is nice. It's not too heavy and pushes easily. I would highly recomend this model.

I really like the vaccum but not sure about the service of company. I purchased a new store model and it was damaged I sent in for warrenty repair and took 3 weeks for a part to come in that I did not need anyway. Very poor comunication with Dyson customer service and the certified regional repair center I had to deal with. But the vac itself, now that I have it back ,runs great and has great suction. I love the long hose and extra attachments. I would reccomend.

My sister had purchased another leading vacuum cleaner but because of the thickness of her carpeting it wore her out just doing one room. The Dyson has variable height adjustments and it worked beautifully for her. She is estatic about its performance.

I love, love, love this Dyson. My last vacuum cleaner was a top of the line Electrolux, this one is BETTER !

I was using a Kibry but not anylonger It is only the Dyson from here out the dc28 works ten fold over the Kirby It picked up all sorts of debree the kirby didn't The dc28 is lighter and easyer to use I have nothing bad to repot on the animal. thanks Danny

We have 4 cats in the house that leave slot of hair everywhere. This dyson not only got all the hair up but it got some carpet fresh powder out of the carpet that had been there for over 3 months. This has more sucktion than her yellow dyson. Very pleased with this product.

My husband used his mothers' vacuum not realizing he was using a Dyson. Once he finished using it, he was impressed with the performance. He inquired as to what vacuum this was, and he was told it was a Dyson.
Our own vacuum already on the blink, he came home and told me about the vacuum and how it amazingly it performed. We did our research and with owning a couple of dogs that do shed, we knew one of the Animal Dyson vacuums would be the one we needed. We searched major department stores and online stores looking for the best vacuum for the best price and finally found one.
My husband was the first to use it. Proving his point he would vacuum a small area with our other 'brand name' vacuum that has claimed their vacuum was the best with the cleaning test. Well, he did prove his point. After he vacuumed a small area with our old vacuum and then went over the same small area with the Dyson, I was disgusted with what was still left in the carpet from our old vacuum. The Dyson canister had so much in it from such a small area, I was afraid to see what it would be like after the whole carpet was cleaned.

Love the Dyson, I will and do highly recommend it. I will tell you one thing, it is a very heavy vacuum. With the weight of the vacuum and the suction that it uses to clean, it can prove to be rough on the low back if you have prior back issues. But my husband and teen age children do not have a problem using, and I can use it, just not for a long period of time.

If this vacuum continues with the outstanding performance it does when it is new, it will be around our house for a very long time. Thank you for your time.

I did recieve the Dyson today 12/23/2009 However, I disputed the item because of the box it was sent in The box was a Hoover windtunnel. Not a Dyson box.
This caused a huge problem until I opened the box as per advice of paypal rep.
It is the above Dyson Animal 28.
I didn't recognize the address on the box. I believed it to come from Dyson

Works great. I moved into an apt and they had the rug professionally cleaned. The vacuum workss so well there was hair and dirt and really gross stuff in there. Love it. i already own a dyson but i love this one.

We love our new vacuum. It is the best that we have owned. Very easy to use, suction is incredible for pet hair & dirt, and worth every penny.

I just bought this vacuum. I assembled the vacuum which was simple. Some people have said that the Dysons are difficult to put together but that's not the case with the DC28. You connect the hose to the handle and snap the handle to the vacuum. Easy.

I have only used the vacuum once but was very pleased with it's performance. I live in an apartment and have two cats. My old vacuum was not very good at picking up the hair but the DC28 did just that with no problem at all. A couple of weeks prior to using the Dyson vacuum, I had used my old vacuum and even deep cleaned the the spare bedroom carpet with a Bissell home model deep clean carpet cleaner. You would think the carpet would be fairly clean, right? I mean, the carpet looked clean. There wasn't any hair that I could see. I could not believe the amount of hair the Dyson pulled up from the "clean" carpet. My living room carpet is the worst. Dirt gets tracked in from the outside and it always has cat hair all over the carpet. My old vacuum took several tries to get the hair off. The Dyson took care of that with one pass. If this vacuum continues to perform as good as this I will be a very happy person.

The only cons I would have with this vacuum would be this. The pictures in the assembly manual could be a little more clear or have a written description added to them. The telescoping wand/hose is a little clumsy at first but at the same time, I think this is a really good idea/invention to have the hose built right into the handle.
