Dyson DC25 Upright Cleaner

I really like this vacuum. This is the only vacuum I have found that actually takes pet hair, etc. off of my sofas. The only thing is that when you are vacuuming it is heavy. It feels like all of the weight is in the handle. Otherwise, superb vacuum.

This model has the same amount of suction as the DC-17 but is about five lbs. lighter and much easier to maneuver.

PROS: Both of the permanent filters are washable while on previous models only one is
washable;
Cleaning close to the walls it sucks up the debris much better than the DC-17;
The dust container is much easier to empty and rinse out;
The power-head is removable which makes it easier to get at the brushes for
cleaning or servicing.

CONS: The dust container is much smaller than previous models but this is mitigated by
the ease of emptying it;
Ugly yellow color

I have purchased 5 vacuums in the past 9 years and I was not happy with any of them. For one year, I have been cleaning a home for a woman who owns a Dyson. I previously felt they were overrated and expensive until I began using her Dyson. The suction is incredible. The other vacuums I have used in the past do not pick up every speck off the carpet and when I vacummed hard floors the motor on the other vacuums just blew the debris around. I purchased the Dyson DC25 and it is FANTASTIC. It transitions from carpeted floor to hard surfaces with great ease. The Dyson DC25 does not clog like the other brands I have used in the past. The ball allows exceptional turning and movement. Very lightweight and small but looks are deceiving. This vacuum is very powerful. In my opinion, this was money well spent!

I purchased the Dyson DC25 as an upgrade to an Oreck XL. I have owned a Rainbow in the past as well. The Dyson is comparable or better in terms of suction than the Rainbow and at a discounted price. I prefer the upright to the canister for portability upstairs and down. I was amazed at how much dust and pet hair the Dyson picked up immediately after vaccuuming with the Oreck. I immediately noticed a marked difference in the carpet post-Dyson vs. an area where I had not yet used the Dyson. It brought the carpet to life.

The Dyson is much heavier than the Oreck (over 10 lbs.), but well worth it. The only cons I have so far are that the unit does not drop down low enough to get under the beds. I have also found some difficulty and awkwardness in using the telescopic attachments and getting the scope to disconnect from the unit. However, I do confess that I have not spent a lot of time working through the manual to figure it out. I wouldn't expect to have to do that though.

I would rate this as a good buy; especially if you can find it for under $350. I chose this model over the other Dyson models because of the mobility of the ball and lower weight. I have used a borrowed DC-17 in the past and this unit is much easier to manuver.

First off, it is much easier to use than the conventional pull or tag-along vac. An engineering marvel in my humble opinion, it's able to maneuver around corners and under stuff with ease. I really haven't noticed that much + difference in the actual performance of the vacuum side of it. It is well adequate to take care of any household vacuuming needs. I just like the way it feels in your hands. It is clearly ahead of it's time and surly ahead of the other manufacturers.

After trying a friend's dyson and being turned down too many times to buy it from her, I decided to get my own. I am SO GLAD I did!!!!! Best vacuum ever!!! Can't beat the suction!!! The house we live in right now was previously inhabited by many animals and with our allergies, we were dying. The dyson vacuum sucked up more gunk and dust than I ever could have imagined. In this small 3-bedroom house, we had to empty the container at least 2 times per room!!! Now our children can breathe again. I will NEVER go back to a traditional vaccum!!

This is an amazing vacuum!!! I used my old sweeper and it is one of the "very" expensive models and then went over my carpet with the Dyson 25 and in just a short area, it was filled with dirt that the other vacuum missed!!! No wonder dust build up is on my furniture so quick!!! You won't be disappointed...although it is a funky color! LOL:)

MY WIFE WANTED ME TO BUY HER THE DYSON DC 25 SHE HAD TRIED ONE OUT AT A FRIEND HOUSE. WE HAVE A SMALL DOG AND IT DOES A FANTASTIC JOB PICKING UP HAIR ACORDING TO MY WIFE.I TRIED IT MYSELF THE BALL MAKES IT SO EASY TO CHANGE DIRECTIONS AND TO USE.IT HAS TWICE THE SUCTION AS THE HOVER WIND TUNNEL THAT WE OWNED.I DON'T THINK YOU CAN GO WRONG BY BUYING ONE!

I have tried Kirby, Rainbow, Eureka, and many others! The Dyson dc25 is the best vacuum I have ever had the pleasure to use. The warranty is great and the product is even better. The first time I used the Dc25 the bagless canister filled up with somethings ive never seen before. It is a little humiliating to say but my floors were filthy. This vacuum is deep cleaning and effortless to use. If this vacuum ever fails me i will purchase another at whatever reasonable cost it may be. THANK YOU DYSON for cleaning my home!!!!!

After checking with a leading consumer magazine regarding the Dyson DC25 vacuum, I almost did not purchase it because it was rated only fair at vacuuming carpet and very good on hard floors. Having a Black Lab and a Pomeranian in the house, I needed a vacuum that I could count on. However, I was intrigued with the "ball" design and decided to try it. My wife and I really like the maneuverability of this vacuum, and as for its performance on carpet, including dog hair, I am impressed with the results (much better than I expected from the magazine rating). It is great on hard floors as well. Not having any bags to replace is a plus. The only thing I think Dyson could improve upon would be a longer cord (which isn't all that short). This was a great choice and is an excellent vacuum.

I always purchased the $130 upright bagless vacuum's at Target or Sears (usually a dirt devil). If you are like me you'll notice that I wrote "always" because I'm always buying vacuums...about every 9 months the fairly new machine just dies or the spinner brush stops working. I decided that enough was enough and took a chance on a more expensive unit.

My first purchase on ebay turned out to be a "cleverly" worded advertisement and I was shipped a refurbished unit. After the very nice seller got the item back and refunded my money, I found an unused new unit for less money!

I've had the Dyson DC25 for about a week now and it is clearly a much better unit than anything I've worked with in the past. Maybe its not fair to compare a $500 retail priced item with a $140 retail priced item but it's obvious from the moment you open the box that this is a much better device. A good analogy would be comparing a Honda civic with a top of the line Mercedes. Everything fits together perfectly, snapping in and out of place. The shape is a little funky but it handles really well and it was pretty easy to get under and around furniture as they claim in tv commercials.

Overall its a vacuum on steroids which has been over engineered. Is all that design necessary? Probably not. But obviously I'm excited about it enough write a review for ebay.

Also note, the warranty is only in place if you purchase it from an authorized dealer. So as great as a 5 year warranty is, you won't get it from some random seller on ebay. On the other hand, if they are giving a 5 year comprehensive warranty, one would hope they're putting out a really good, long lasting product.

I gave the unit 4/5 because of the cost. Maybe in a few years if it's still running (and I'm still running!) that number will increase to a 5/5.

I bought this locally at an authorized dealer-they let me take home and try out 3 other different brands of vacuums (Meile,Simplicity,Panasonic-up to $1000 each).I am a vacuum freak! with 18 indoor cats I need to be! This DYSON 25 animal won hands down over every one I have tried/owned in 40 years! for Cleaning, renewing the nap of my carpet, edge cleaning, LIGHTWEIGHT and EASY to use..I bought a Hoover Mach6 less than a year ago-the only good thing about it was the cord rewind- I Happily gave this up for the Dyson! (And lost 5lbs of weight to shove around)...The 5 year warranty is Great- Only thing not covered is the power cord if you run over it etc.- Imagine 5 years of NO Troubles and I Love the power hand brush!!

I decided to spend the extra money and give this vacuuum a try. I absolutley LOVE IT! It is heavy enough that the unit doesn't tip when using the wand attachtment for stairs or ceiling fans, and the suction really grips the floor, and hugs the corners well. It adjusts from tile floors to carpets to rugs easily, and needs no manual adjustments. The only thing that would make this vacuum perfect is a longer cord which would be retractable! Maybe next years model :)

I decided to buy Dyson because I just got sick of using a regular vacuum and I wanted to up grade. It's the BOMB!! I LOVE IT and my SteamBoy Mop. Two of the best products ever.

the suction is great for household with pets and kids. the cord could be longer tho. It is easy to clean also. Great product!!

I bought this as a gift for my daughter. She tells me itis the ultimate vacuum cleaner. After first use, my daughter spoke of her experience with rave review. She said the only negative was when she reached down to check out the suction strength,it was so powerful, it sucked her finger into the machine. She was then convinced that it would sufficiently clean her carpet.

Worth every penny. I got on ebay for a really good price. My wife had used our old sweeper the morning we got the Dyson. She decided to use the new sweeper once we got it. We were AMAZED at how much stuff our old sweeper was missing. My wife is a bit of a neat freak. With recently getting a dog, she was not at all happy with the old sweeper. We are sold on the Dyson. a must have for pet owners.

This is a fantastic product. I have always used a Rainbow, but this is so much easier and a lot less messy. It's amazing at what it picks up and the clean out is a snap!

I have 2 dogs, a cat, and 15 month-old twins. I had NO idea how much stuff my old vacuum wasn't picking up. This vacuum is nimble, powerful, and quieter than both my old uprights.

The only negative comment I have is that the cord is not long enough for me, but good gosh, it's terrific in so many other ways!

This is truly a kick @$$ vacuume cleaner. Do NOT fear the price. $400 on Ebay (including S&H) is a fair deal. This thing cleans and sucks up everything! My kid had me hysterical. He was chanting the movie lines from 'Space Balls' chanting 'Suck - Suck - Suck' We were laughing but for real this is absolutely terrific. The ball is great over wheels and easy to move and the power is great. Our Hoover has been dethroned. You need a vacuum - 200 will get you middle of road and twice as long cleaning (electric bill!) 300 will get you 'good'. GO THE EXTRA 100 and GET THIS VACUUM !

I bought this vacuum cleaner for my wife. I didn't ask her about it, but went ahead on my own. She was surprised when it arrived and I set it up for her to try out. She loves it. The vacuum cleaner is very, very quiet. When she is using it, you only hear the air moving. The normal roar of the motor is absent. All the accessories are on board and the unit quickly converts from normal use to accessories with the remote hose. It is light and easy to carry. It is no doubt the nicest vacuum cleaner we have ever owned and by the way it is made, should last many years. Great vacuum with very easy to use accessories. Canister is very easy to empty and with no mess.
Buy one and you will love it.
