I own two Dyson upright vacuums and love the fact that they never lose suction. The DC16 handheld has the world class suction of a Dyson...but less than world class battery life. You'll only get about 5 minutes of battery life with each charge! Terribly disappointing for a $150 handheld Vac.
This handheld vacuum sucks... in a great way! This is the most amazing handheld vac I have seen. The suction is unreal which makes it great for getting down in all the nooks and crannys. I have been a big Dyson fan for several years and this is a perfect addition to their line.
I bought it because of its reputation of being developed by a quality company. It easily and effectively vacuums anything that is in the nozzle's reach.
Very powerful little vacuum. Dyson definitely should look at battery life. The battery seems to die within 4-8 minutes. Otherwise the unit is substantianly more powerful than any other vacuum cleaner in its class.
Positive : Very easy to empty and very strung suction.
Negative : Needs a better battery with a longer life.
Pros: Great suction. Easy to empty. Lithium battery. Cons: No onboard caddy for attachments. Spare battery very hard to obtain, except from Dyson at full MSRP.
The vacuum itself is absolutely wonderful !! The battery lift leaves much to be desired !! I bought my vacuum used, but the batter only lasted approx. 10 minutes. I searched the internet a little and apparently the battery is an issue. However, if your just doing a small clean-up the vacuum works great. Dyson made a great cordless vacuum, but they need to work on the battery !!!
an expencive vacume that really sucks, you have to charge this vacume for 3 hours to get a total of only 6 minutes of use over designed for power usage \ do not buy one!!!!!!
Have been looking for a hand held vac that had some cleaning power. The dyson root has power to spare. Just love the ease of desposing of the dirt when finished. It's only draw back is the short lenght of time you have, about 6 minutes, to use it. You must plan what you want to use it on and don't waste battery time when cleaning.
it will do any job you will need a hendheld to do..as long as you make it fast ..battery life sucks more than the vacuum..works good for cleaning out cars and trucks..and spills around the house.
I love the vacuum. I hate that you have to hold the trigger down - it can get tiring. While it charges quickly, it also discharges quickly, which makes cleaning the stairs a two-parter sometimes.
Terrific! Most vacuums suck-- read don't. Well this one really sucks the way it should. Powerful and flexible. I use it for vacuuming the stairs as I have a wrist impairment and cannot carry or manage a regular vacuum doing the stairs. I have dogs and cats and this vacuum is amazing on how much hair it sucked up compaired with others. I can just pick this up and vacuum spots without having to get out the big one, plus great for cars. Now I'm looking at the Dyson Upright Animal -- naturally on e-Bay. My husband and I have gone through a lot of vacuum cleaners and we're very impressed with this powerful little number.
love the product, the power stays all the way through. the fast charging system save you time and never have to think about a dead machine. it's perfect
Dyson DC16 Root 6 Bagless Handheld Cyclonic Vacuum is an Average hand held quick vacuum. Handy for quick spills or dust. I bought it for the steps not powerful enough for that job. Nice and handy when the grandkids come or my husband pours his cereal.
In my very inion it is useful for short time work. it's very powerful but the battery is jost or not sufficient also to clean only a single car, and after it need more than 2 or 3 hours to recharg.
This hand vacuum is the best one I have ever used or owned. It is great on suction and no bag hence easy emptying. The only negative is that the charge is too short, only about 15 minutes. I guess you can't have everything. It cleans upholstry well. It has enough tools to do all the jobs. It ran out of power before I finished the back floor of the car. I still would highly recommend it as the best hand vacuum on the market. Shirley Sevastacis
This is a great product. I took it out of the box, charged the battery and began to use it. The instructions consist of pictures only which make them a bit hard to follow. That said, the product is great.
handy vac, easy to use, great battery and charging system.it suprises me that with all the technology dyson has, they don't offer an extension so you can reach a ceiling corner.thanks,irv.
The vacuum cleaner is the most powerful cordless unit I have ever used. It surpasses ANY of those car 12v vacuum cleaners, hands down. Cleanup is very simple due to it being a bag less cyclonic unit. The run time is minimal (due to its powerhouse of a motor) and that is why it is necessary to purchase a spare battery. It is ideal for cleaning up a car, between seats, floors and trunk. No need to drag out the extension cord and a portable vacuum cleaner . . . unless you have serious dirt to cleanup. The run time lasts longer if one would sporadically (release the ON trigger when not actually picking up dirt) turn the unit on. It is incapable of continuous vacuum cleaning of areas that are so loaded with animal as well as human hair. This is due to an actual maximum continuous run time of 6 minutes on a fully charged battery. It takes about 2 hours to recharge. I have NO regrets in this purchase . . . especially on Ebay.
This is a good Vac. It does what it says it will do. The battery lasts about 6 minutes but if you actually time yourself, 6 minutes gets a lot done. I would like if they threw in the extension hose for the price but they dont. You can take this thing apart and put together blindfolded. I love both of my Dysons.
This is an awesome hand vac. I bought the hand vac and the floor vac at the same time. Neither of the Dyson's I bought are specifically for pet hair, but that's really why I bought them. The long extension piece makes it easy to whip around the house and get in the nooks and crannies that the regular vac misses. I'm sure this would be great to clean the car as well. Only two issues - the charger has an odd mounting bracket - you mount on the thin edge of the mounting piece which makes it more likely that the charger can get ripped out of the wall; unlike a regular vacuum that has places to store the removable nozzles, you can't store the other nozzles on the hand vac itself. I thought that the 3 hours of charging for 6 minutes vacuuming would be problematic, but so far it's not really an issue. One unexpected nicety - the hand vac comes with an adapter that makes it possible to use any of Dyson's floor vac removable nozzles - ingenious! But, most importantly, it sucks like there's no tomorrow!!!! yay!!
I've owned MANY dustbusters and vacuums in the past and this is truly the best of the best. This vacuum is able to suck up the finest of dust and ash without discharging it back out into the air. I think its only disadvantage is its size and shape which make it hard to wall mounted it in an indiscrete manner.
I love the Dyson family of products, I have a dog and beige carpeting. The Dyson handheld is the only one that can pick up dog hair from my steps. The only thing I did not like about it is that the charge only lasts for 6 minutes, I would have liked it to last longer. But overall it is a great product, easy to hold and use.
