The animal DC14 is a very good model. A friend has a very hairy golden retriver that sheds like you can't believe and this puppy (the vac, not the dog!) just sucks it all up. It's a very impressive vac. I also like the way it's easy to take apart in case anything does jam up (like pine needles post christmas). And not having to purchase bags is a huge plus. And let's face it--it's just more fun to clean with a purple vac! ;-)
