Dying to Belong (DVD, 2005)

This is one of those rarely great movies that did not hit the big screen, unfortunately, like it should have. I first discovered this film when I was looking up some great titles that casts Hilary Swank in a lead role. What a great find! Hilary plays Lisa, who meets her new best friend Shelby at college when they decide to join a sorority that her mother tries very hard to convince her to join. Both girls get accepted and soon find that things aren't quite right, until suddenly Shelby falls to her death. It's then up to Lisa to investigate, along with her reporter boyfriend Steven(Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Saved by the Bell), to find out the true story of why and how it all happened. It's a very entertaining, fun to watch flick that is highly recommended to those who love thrillers with a twist. Swank is wonderful as usual and lights up the screen every time. I give this one a five star!!

This movie is about 2 best friends in college joining a sorority and wanting to fit in. One desperately wants to fit in and ends up dying. Her best friend and her reporter boyfriend will stop at nothing to get the answers of her puzzled death.

A college sorority falls down to her death in a sorority initiation prank, but not everyone belives the circumstances in what happened.Lisa Conners gets a bid to her mom's old sorority Phi Gamma Beta, and another self doubting girl named Shelby.Lisa meets a guy named Steven who is an editor of the college's newpaper.Steven believes in the freedom of press and will stop at nothing to get anwsers and the truth, in what he belives is the sororities are illegally hazing pledges.The pledges and the sororietes won't say anything because they are sworn in blood to the white rose.Lisa & Shelby take on the appalling demands of initiation, and how the college authorities could miss what's going on isn't clear.Courageous journalist Steven, without the approval of faculty adviser Mr. Ridgely has a fiery editorial about hazing. People react badly. Some fraternity toughs beat him up, which is terrible, as he seems to be the entire staff of the Daily Crusader. The pledges are under the direction of Drea who's pretty when she smiles, but flashes her familiar scowl and they're required to undergo quite a hunk of mumbo-jumbo so they can learn the deep significance of being a Phi Gamma.Seeing Shelby about to be humiliated, Lisa gamely decides the sorority can do without her.Can Lisa let the real truth of the death of the sorority sister be revealved?
