Dusk and Summer by Dashboard Confessional (CD, Jun-2006, Vagrant Records USA)

I don't know that DC can ever top their first album but this one is really pretty good. The best song is 'So Long' which Adam Duritz does back-up vocals for. I am biased though; Counting Crowes are my favorite.

I recommend buying this CD but don't break the bank doing it.

This album is amazing. I love old albums such as swiss army romance and the places you have come to fear the most, but i think this is the best. The emotion is all still there, but it just comes in a more powerful way. Besides, change is what makes everything interesting. go dashboard

I mostly bought this CD for the song Stolen. It's beautiful. There are a few other good ones but nothing really stuck with me. A good CD but not as stellar as I expected.

I have been listening to Chris Carbabba since his days with further seems forever, and I own every single Dashboard Confessional C.D. to date. Dusk and Summer is by far the best C.D. Dashboard Confessional has ever made!

With only 2 songs on it that are skippable, this cd is terriffic. Great songs about just feeling alive

well, when i looked on i tunes store it said that the song "vindicated" was track 11 on the cd and it's not even on this cd so i was pretty disappointed about that. other than that the cd is good

This is a great cd! It is emotional and its bittersweet.. you receive full emotions from this cd. Dusk and Summer is mature without a doubt, the lyrics are honest and real, if you liked the previous cds you will like this one.

Great album!! My girlfriend listens to it all the time. I'm glad I found it for cheap on eBay. eBay is awesome!!

Its a good CD...but I only listen to a couple songs and the song that plays on satellite radio isnt exactly the same as what you get on this CD.

I absolutely love this CD. There is not a song on here that I would skip. My favorite song is Dusk and Summer. It's just such an amazing album. I had to take it out of my car because anyone who rode in the car with me got sick of it!

i first bought this and i didnt read anything i ust bought it, but then i saw it was used, but we i got the cd, it was NEW, well it dont have the tags, or anything, but was very very very good, i thought it was new without the plastic, so like the seller says, opened but never played, and it was true!, the seller is very honest!. and about the cd ITS GREAT, i love it!..

I like the CD, the album has sevrall good songs on it. Must have for dash board lovers. I had listened to it once at a killer party and decided that i would then buy it, and I now listen to it more the almost any other CD. But if i had to rank it on a scale one to ten most likely a seven or an eight.

I decided to buy this cd because Dasboard confessionals is my favorite band and I wanted to get it for cheap! It came fast, and I love the cd very much.

I've heard other people complaining that this album just isn't the Dashboard they knew, that they are so vastly different and un-emo that it makes them cry.

Well, bottom line- don't believe them.

I'm not sure what CD they are listening to, but I happen to love my copy. I've had it blasting through my stero for the past two weeks, and it still hasn't gotten old. My favoites, "Rooftops and Invitiations" and "So Long, So Long" are on repeat nonstop, although all the songs are put together well. I guess I don't understand why using a mixer, getting voally creative, and adding amps to your guitar makes you less emo and less feeling. With more ooomph behind them now, it sounds as much if not more full of heart. Chris's lyrics are poetic and beautiful, the music is tightly woven and haunting, and everyone who's been in love before should buy this CD if only for it's way of making you feel like you're the one who wrote the songs.

Big is always better right? Well that's what we're always told, yet the new Dashboard Confessional album may well dispell that myth. This record sounds HUGE. Gone are the days of Mr Carabba wistfully strumming his guitar and singing about nursing his broken heart. 'Dusk and Summer' is a full band record with so many laters of production it's more shiny than a big shiny thing. And sadly, the end result is more dad-rock than emo-rock. This is easily the worst DC album yet.

Save a couple of songs, including the 'bonus track' 'Vindicated', this is soulless and emotionless, the complete opposite of what made the band famous in the first place. If you've seen the band's unplugged session, you'll know exactly what DC mean to so many people. Chris' songs and his vocals just strike a chord with people. As a solo artist his shows were more like a sermon, there was a connection that seemed different to almost any other artist. Sadly, that's now gone and in its place is a vapid bunch of songs that are polished beyond perfection.

'Don't Wait' is excellent, but as an opener it lulls you into a false sense of security. The rest of the record really doesn't live up to these heady heights and by the end you;re left wondering how someone could have penned 'The Places...' and then followed it up with this overrated made-for-MTV record. Too many of the songs simply blend in with one another. There are too many layers of guitars or vocals and even Chris' voice doesn't sound as strained or impassioned as it has done on previous albums. Everything that made his band stand out has been stripped away...and the end result is really disappointing. 'Dusk and Summer' will inevitably pick up new fans, maybe older fans, but I think those who were there are the beginning may well have been turned off by DC's 'new' sound.

This CD is the only reason I like Dashboard Confessional. It retain the beautiful lyrics and melodies but now has a more mainstream, professional feel. Full of emotion - excellent buy.
