Don't get me wrong. I think the content of the DVD is very good. I totally buy into the fact that babies have a language, and I have applied the concepts with my baby. The information is pretty basic....5 cries means 5 things. I like that they give many examples of the cries so that the listener gets a good feel for what each cry sounds like. The problem is, all of this could have been done in a 10 minute video. To fill up the rest of the space, they show some (what seems to me) very obvious ways to calm a baby. For example, one cry means, "I'm hungry." Seems pretty obvious that you would then feed the baby. So, to fill up time, they show all the positions in which you can feed a baby. It just struck me as silly. I'd rather have paid less and just gotten the basic information. If I had seen the videos beforehand, I probably wouldn't have bought it, but I have gleaned some good information regardless.

I also bought the DVDs after seeing Priscilla on Oprah. It wasn't available until after my baby was born, but I wish I had it earlier! Yes, eventually you will instinctively learn your baby's cries, but it was so nice to get a jump start and hear it before you are panicked and trying to figure out what he wants. I watched it with my mom and she recognized the crying sounds from when I was a baby! It also became almost a game with my sisters trying to guess the sound.

Having seen the segment on Oprah, I was surprised that there wasn't more information on the DVD's than there was on the segment of the show. There is great info that I would recommend to anyone who has, will have, or will be watching an infant. I thought that 2 DVD's would have more than an hour's worth of teaching. Just knowing one word helped my son and daughter-in-law when they brought their daughter home.

I've heard this DVD talked about all over the place. The most influential was on Oprah. It's a great invention and works well. I was a little sad at the price compared to how short the DVDs were, but then again, after we hear the word/sound that the babies say, there's not much more left to talk about! I bought this for for my own knowledge as well as for a gift for my cousin that is pregnant for the first time. This is a great gift for first-time moms & dads! I most likely will buy another one for my best friend that's trying to have a baby now -- she actually has two other children, but it's been six years since that last child.

I was given this dvd as a gift before our baby was born. Even on his birthday, I was able to distinguish his cries. I highly recommend this for any new parent with a newborn. I could not imagine having to figure out his cries and being a frustrated parent because we always know what he is saying.

Most horrible experience with Inflatable Madness

I won the Dunstan Baby dvd on November 9th. Inflatable Madness' owner, Kevin Harmon, cashed my check on November 14th. I went through a week of threatening emails about how he had to have my check immediately or he would make trouble for me on Ebay. (I don't know how much faster I could have gotten my check to him). It is now January 2, 2009 and to date, I've never received the merchandise. I sent him emails, called him several times and there was always an excuse. "We'll send you a refund," "we ran out of stock," "the dvd is in the mail," "I thought I sent it!"....every excuse in the book. Staff at Inflatable Madness was so nasty and rude.

It took 6 weeks until I finally spoke to someone at Inflatable Madness who listened to me and that person(Patrica), did in fact, send me a refund check. And then, to top this off, the most maddening thing of all, is that Inflatable Madness had the AUDACITY TO MARK ME AS WITH AN UNPAID STRIKE!!! I was very close to suing this company.

The matter is resolved, but now I have to search for the Dunstan dvd somewhere else. I do have my refund so I am completely done with Inflatable Madness and Kevin Harmon. I can't impress upon you enough to warn your customers to STAY AWAY from this Ebay vendor. This is the first bad experience I've had and it was a horror. I am an honorable citizen and pay for my merchandise immediately, timely and properly. I resent that I was turned into the bad one by Kevin Harmon. I repeat...warn your customers to steer clear of this company.

My daughter had twins 3 weeks ago. Knowing why one or both of them are crying is a godsend!!! I saw the Oprah show with Ms. Dunstan and I can't tell you how glad we all are to have the knowledge that we gained from this DVD. It is invaluable.

I am an R.N. and have worked Labor and Delivery since 1988. I purchased it for my daughter that is expecting now for the first time. I was R.N. when I had my first child and I still had problems knowing what my child was crying about. I think this DVD is wonderful!!!!!!!!

I bought this video and The happiest kid on the block video at the same time, While the second one was excellent and really helpful i Found this one a little overestimated. My baby is 3 weeks old and I think you really get to know instictively what he needs... No need for a videotaht is even more complicated...

This technique really works! It can be very overwhelming to have a crying newborn, but when you know why they are crying it is very comforting for the baby and the parents. I am so glad we had this with our newborn!

I bought it because I saw it on Oprah and thought it was fabulous. I had two friends that were having twins and thought it would be the greatest gift ever. They thought so too! We all watched it at one of the baby showers and we all loved it!

She is very articulate with each sound and that is VERY helpful. The only negative thing is that it would be nice to have all the sounds together in random order (more than in the Priscilla, Mommies and babies section) so that you can get used to hearing them. overall LOVE IT!!!!

The info is useful and is a big help!
Review created: 10/23/09

I am glad I bought this DVD second hand and did not spend $40 on it. While the information is helpful and very useful, the DVD is horrible. Patricia Dunstan basically reads off cue cards the entire time and both DVD's contain a total of 30 mins together..could have been one disc. I wish they would have included more info, real life stories of mothers who have used the language, etc. I am happy I purchased it, but I am pretty sure I could have looked it up on utube and got the same information.

The idea of Dunstan Baby Language is fascinating. However, this DVD leaves you with more questions than answers. It really was nothing more than a 2 disc advertisement for the creators group workshops. I would not recomend this product and I am sorry I bought it. As a baby may say, it was just Eh.

  What was lost, then found
Review created: 10/16/09

The package was lost in the mail as I never received it after placing my order. We were busy with the birth of our first child so I didn't have a chance to follow up on the order - so after a few weeks the vendor contacted me asking me if I received it yet as it didn't show on their end.

They told me they were out of the product and would have to refund our money when, at the last minute, they were able to get their hands on one and shipped it to us promptly.

Now my wife and I try to decipher our son's baby language all day long thanks to this great product.

Review created: 10/10/09

First of all, the product I received was brand new and excellent and I hate to give this an average rating when it could have been excellent. The seller was extremely cooperative with the problem we had with shipment and responded to my emails. It took almost A MONTH to receive this product and I was so disappointed to have to wait so long when I could have ordered this from somewhere else and gotten it in a few days after ordering.

Fabulous aid to understand your baby!
Review created: 09/06/09
by:

I was very intrigued with the idea of this and it proved to be valid. The examples and personal testimonies were clear and very interesting. I was impressed at how clearly the babies do communicate their needs with different sounds. The different cry sounds are clearly identified and vivid examples are shown. I wish I had this when my children were born! My great grandson was born recently and he clearly performs these sounds as described and demonstrated on this DVD. It has made my granddaughter's first child experience so much more relaxed since she is more confident. It really saves wear and tear on both mom and baby since she immediately knows what he needs and tends to that need right away, preventing him from crying endlessly while she "trial and error" tries to figure out what to do for him. It truly is amazingly simple. Every person taking care of an infant should have this DVD! The lady that made this has a "photographic memory" of sounds. You would be familiar with this as in people that can hear a tune and play it back "by ear". She first identified these cries with her own baby and then compared to other babies. Eventually she researched cries of babies in different countries. All babies cry the same due to the body's reaction to different discomfort stimuli. Most mothers eventually tune in to their baby's cues but it's trial and error and they generally have no clear concise understanding all the time. This DVD is a fast track to clear understanding with real results. There are 2 DVDs. They recommend you view the first one and wait 2 weeks to view the second one. I think you should play them both to begin with and review them as needed. I also strongly recommend you watch the comments (or testimonials) of users that she has recorded at the end on both discs. They are just as beneficial as the first part of each disc.

Got this for my son and daughter-in-law.. After watching it, they said they are going to give it as a gift to all their new-parent friends. The two DVDs are very short yet very helpful in understanding your baby's needs. Highly recommend!

Really valuable for first time moms.
Review created: 08/10/09

I like that its easy to follow. Would like if there was a quiz of all the "noises" at the end of the dvd's, as I am a first time mom- I was not able to practice decifering the "noises". I will be watching the dvd's again before I have the baby, and eventually I will pass them on to another first time mom.

This DVD set was incredibly helpful and took what was once mysterious cries and sounds from our 5 week old to be clear words she was using to let us know what she needed. This information is amazing and I would recommend it to any new parent. I think the content could have been condensed onto one DVD, but overall it is a great a buy.
