This book starts out rather disceiving, with a severily injured man going to
Duma Key for solice and recovery. What he finds is that the Key has some what of control over him almost immediately. King, used his own recovery from an auto accident to bring about the main character in this book, and used his home in Florida as a base for the story. One is immediately sucked into the story and pulled along, some of it is hard to understand the first time through, but having bought this book as an audiobook I was able to reread(listen)to it. The story also incorpoates a myth abouth a little girl (King makes it twin girls) that died in the surf off the coast from his home in Florida. If you are into suspence, intrigue or just want the bajeebers scared out of you, STEVEN KING'S DUMA KEY is the book to buy, it won't let you down.

I liked the very interesting and picturecst story. I did not like the ending, it left many unanswered questions and wanting more story. I bought it because I love Stephen King's work, I drive a lot and listen to books on cd. As far as Stephen Kings Storys go, I would give it a B-.

Once again he takes you on a roller coaster ride, you start slowly up and up till suddenly you fall, and go around one turn then another never knowing where it will end.Great ride wanted to go on it again and again.

If you're a Stephen King reader, like me, and have read just about everything he's ever had published, then you have developed a sort of trepidation whenever you've got a new book of his in your hands. And I don't mean trepidation because you're afraid of being scared, I mean trepidation because he is not the reliable scare-meister he once was, and he hasn't been in a long time. Still, like long-time lovers hoping to recreate that first blush of passion, we keep going back to his books because you just..never...know.....when he's going to hit the right spot, so to speak.
Everybody knows that King is a little weird, or how else could he come up with this stuff in the first place? But sometimes he's so offbeat that the things that seem to scare him just seem dumb to the rest of us. I mean, evil armadillos? Strings floating up from the top of our heads that could be cut anytime? Not the stuff of MY nightmares, that's for sure. But I would not deny the guy the right to try new things; I just appreciate those good old fashioned scares more than anything else. And Duma Key has plenty of them, I'm happy to say. From a creepy ghost ship to dripping, seaweedy evil dead little girl twins, no less, Duma Key has plenty of those moments that harken back to the glory days of 'Salem's Lot. You get the genuine creeps, and it really IS one of those stories that makes you want to sleep with the light on.
I liked it so much, in fact, that even though I had already read the hardcover I bought the audiobook on Ebay and listened to it in my car. I'm a middle aged, self-employed Mom, and I admit, sometimes I'm a little a)distracted, b)sleepy or c) brain dead when I finally get a moment for pleasure reading, so when I finished reading I felt that I had really missed a lot from this one, because it is a big read and sometimes there were stretches of several days between the times I could get to it. Listening to the audio, which is extremely well read, filled in the blanks for me and gave the story a lot more impact.
To sum up, if scary armadillos are your bag, you'll be disappointed with this book. But if you like the good old fashioned scares of Stephen King's best work, then you'll be happy with this audiobook...IF you ignore the giant frogs!

I love my new book on CD. It worked out great for vacation, lying in the sun and listening to a book. So far I've only reached chapter 16 and it isn't scary yet but I'm enjoying it anyway.

Duma Key is Stephen King. Need I say more. If you are a King fan, it's right up there with his other great books. I buy Audio Books for the conveyance of being able to listen while I work on the computer, in my work shop and in the car on long trips. The best part about them is the resale factor, You can turn them around on eBay and take the proceeds and buy another.

Love Stephen King. This one was one of the more down to earth stories. Still
a little wild imagination going on with King, but thats what we all like. LOVED

I loved this book and couldn't wait to move on to the next CD it definately pulls you into the story. This is a must CD for Stephen King fans would love to see this made into a movie, especially if they do it like they did The Green Mile and keep most of the story intact. John Slattery does a great job when reading this book he really convincing you of that what he is reading is actually happening.

If you like Stephen King as an author, you will love Duma Key on CD. Very well read. This is a must "listen" for fans of Stephen King. Gripping well written story.

This turned out to be one of Stephen Kings best books he ever put out. This definitly ranks in my top five Stephen King books of all time, probably top five books I have ever read. Great characters and story. Even though this book was a 600 to 700 pager it didn't take me long to get through it. Just couldn't seem to put it down. Since King wrote the finale to The Dark Tower every book he has released has been excellent, Blaze, Cell, Lisey's Story and now Duma Key. He just keeps getting better and better and would recommend this book to anyone.

The Duma Key audio book is a set of 18 c.d.s that I bought because I recently started a job with an hour commute each way. It was, for the most part, such an engaging story that I had missed a few exits on the way to and from work!!! The story itself got a bit far fetched toward the end, even for Stephen King. However, the only thing I really didn't like about it was that it ended!!! I'll definitely get another book on c.d.. Great experience!!

I just finished listening to Duma Key. Once again Stephen King hits it out of the park. I would encourage both King fans and all others to read or listen to this. Thought provoking, suspense filled and genuinely captivating.

Another of King's wonderful tales of horror, right out of the same box of tricks he pulled some of his greatest stuff from. After an accident that severly disables him he moves to Duma Key in Florida where he takes up painting and finds out that his paintings have the ability of coming true. Without giving too much away, I think this would be a very good book for any King fan, especially a vintage King reader.

it's 18 cd's. about 20 hours of enjoyment, it starts a little slow but it builds wonderfully steven king is definitely the master he has always been!

Vintage King. Well worth the money and the time. The book was very long but nearing the end I wanted it to end so I would know what happened but I also wanted it to continue. I am such a confused birch!!! You will understand after you read/listen. I loved it!!!

This has to be one of the best Stephen has written in a long time. I could hardly put it down. I have read all of his books and this one was the old Stephen King, lots of twists and turns and a real treat. ENJOY !!
